I leave my house occasionally
« on: 25 Nov 2009, 09:18 »

I have a job. And a few friends. You know. Things you need to leave your house for.

Sometimes, I even go out to eat, or to a bar for a drink.

I actually fall into this category.  I leave my house to work out and go to work but that's about it nowadays.

I stopped going to the gym, which sucks 'cos I've put like 10 pounds back on since this summer.

Or not at least until it's sunny after 8pm. It's dark out!

Try 4pm. I rarely fuckin' leave this joint. I leave it for work and the occasional grocery shopping trip, and maybe a cigarette run when I run out (which has started to become more and more frequent, which makes me really uncomfortable). And the fucker only comes up at like 9am. Less than 1/3 of the day is lit in this godforsaken state. Fuck being outside, least I can see in here.

I go outside for work, to shop, sometimes to walk around, and to go meet friends (but this isn't very often).

It could be said that I am sort of a shut-in.

Look at the bright side: In the summer it will be sunny at 11PM or so (I don't know what part of Alaska he is in, or care enough to look up average sunrise/set times for June in Alaska).

It has been getting dark around 4:30 now, not quite completely dark, that tends to happen when I am not looking at some point between 4:30 and 5. And I hate the dark. Our poor dog hasn't been getting much in the way of walks recently, I'm not going out after it gets dark to walk the dog. Not only am I scared of the dark, this time of year it gets damn cold once the sun goes down, that bone-piercing chill that doesn't go away until half an hour after you are back in a heated house under three blankets drinking something hot.

I leave my house for school, Parkour, and hanging out with close friends. Sometimes when I've got money for gas I'll go drive around in the mountains for a few hours. I'm not a shut-in, I'm just an apanthropist (I love that word).

An apanthropist seems like a misanthrope, if I can take this similar french word to be a synonym.

It is an older word, you don't see it even in some modern dictionaries (they have to make room for pop culture words somehow). It shares a root with Misanthropy, but instead of mis-(hatred), it is apa-(not caring about, where we get apathy).

I didn't have a childhood. I came into being fully grown in exchange for my ability to grow facial hair. I think I got the short end of that deal.

...

I reread  my post and I'm sorry that I said your mom's vagina must be huge.  I've never met your mom and I am sure she is a very classy lady.  She may have had you through a C section or perhaps had vaginal reconstruction surgery.  I am sure her vagina is quite svelte.

Man, what the hell have I gotten myself into?

I wasn't born cranially, I wasn't even born, I just became, among a chorus of angels, for nothing but a direct act of god could create such wonder. Like I said, though, not worth it. Take Jesus for example, he was born normally, but dude had a huge beard, definitely worth it. Poor sucker went for the divine powers package, though, didn't know what he was getting into.

I think my church just excommunicated me.

Seriously, though, online you can pick who you interact with, and if you don't like them, you can ignore them on most forums, and I don't run into as many people that annoy me online. If I don't like the people or the place anymore, I just shut the browser window. And my apathy is more for humanity in general than all people, same with misanthropes, you don't see anyone that gets described as misanthropic actually hating every single person. I would be misanthropic, but I just can't bring myself to care enough about people I don't like to hate them, it takes too much effort to keep a good hate going.

And have you just been posting in subfora I don't go in, or have you not posted for a year?

How do people go outside when it is below zero?
Doesn't the moist air in your lungs freeze up and you die? Won't the liquid in your eye sockets go solid and you're left a staring, rock hard frozen version of yourself?
