I remember for a while that Sonic Unleashed was going to be the 'back to basics' return to form spiritual sequel to Sonic The Hedgehog 3 that everybody wanted. Look how that turned out.
Save for the portable handheld versions, there hasn't been anything resembling a good Sonic game in a very long time, which is a crying shame because I love Sonic the Hedgehog.
This looks promising though. The only thing that has me concerned is the "Episode 1" thing, I'm not sure I like waiting for my games in installments. I understand that's normal these days, but I haven't done it yet.

Time to head into town and buy Sonic Mega Collection for the gamecube and catch up!

Never was into Sonic, before my time I suppose.  I tried to play them on emulators but it's hard to go back and play those kinds of games, for me at least.  I know the Sonic Cycle pretty well and considering there have been 4 horrible ones on this generation of consoles alone I'm not holding my breath.  The fact that it's downloadable means nothing to me, there are some pretty bad downloadable titles out there.

Sonic & Knuckles was the best Sonic game and it was after Sonic 3.

Oh right, yeah, my bad. I've always considered Sonic 3 and Sonic&Knuckles to be two parts of the same game, I guess.
You're wrong though, Sonic CD was the best sonic game.

Sonic CD was a pretty cool game.

I gotta say it's probably my favorite.

I remember Sonic and Knuckles . . just pop Sonic 3 on top of Sonic and Knuckles and 'VWALLA!', instant serenity.

According to Wikipedia, Sonic and Knuckles was just the stages they didn't have time to put in the final version of Sonic 3 before the release date, so they made up for it by releasing them on a special cartridge that the original games would slot into.
So it's Sonic 3, basically, I guess.
