You gotta love Cosette

...otherwise she'll beat you up with her crutches.

Also: I thought a Freudian slip was some sort of ladies' undergarment.

Also2:  a little weirded out by people this week posting comments pretty much identical to ones I've already made. Does this make me a trend-setter? Or just crushingly insignificant?

The freudian slip comment made me lol.

Cosette has got "crazy gf" written all over her. An I mean batshit crazy.

How do you get pregnant cleaning a toilet with someone you won't meet for another two weeks?
I took it to mean that cleaning a toilet is now a prerequisite to dating, something along the lines of a formal introduction in the "Gone with the Wind" days, but without the need to make a gown out of the drapes.

Also, got to love that she practically said she'd have sex with him, and probably anal, too, that night if he asked.  Takes a lot of the guesswork out.

ALSO, I'm 99% sure she said "penetrative intercourse."  It's a very Hannelore thing to say.

I've never understood the appeal of anal sex, for either gender. It's not really taboo anymore, unless I missed something in anatomy there aren't a great deal of nerve endings in there, as far as a penis is concerned one hole is as good as another so why not put it the right one, and there's the increased risk of disease transmission. Aside from being done as means of birth control, why is anal so desirable?

There are actually quite a few nerve endings in the sphincter/anal region, not to mention the proximity of the prostate in males/whatever the homologous tissue is in females.

Plus there's that whole pain/humiliation angle that pushes some peoples' buttons.

Err, anal doesnt work well for birth control. Lets just say both holes are warm and very close together.

Therefore use a damn condom for birth control, please. Or one of the other methods for that, like pill etc.

Also, IMHO anal is totally disgusting.

Anal is awesome. It's a crime to neglect your prostate if you have one, and many woman (of which I am one) get very intense orgasms from anal. Not to mention a lot of women enjoy double-penetration - and of course if you use a vibrator in your pussy while he is in your arse (or vice versa) it feels incredible for him.

Saying "it's not really taboo" is kind of ridiculous too - just because it's no longer illegal in most places and/or won't get you completely ostracised does not mean there is not a taboo. There are some amazing toys made for anal, don't dismiss it out of hand!

Oh and if you're worried about poo, (a) there are always enemas lol and (b) so long as you don't have diarrhoea it's unlikely to be an issue as the anus stretches around the penis and any faeces is compressed away from it.

"A lot of women enjoy double penetration" ? WTF ? And where do they get the TWO men they need for that ?!? I know of no women in my environment who has two boyfriends !?!?

I'm not opposed to stimulate the prostate as well, but the vagina comes with the clitoris and the ever mysterious g-spot, does she(*) not ?

And its still disgusting. I would wildly prefer the solution with those "amazing tools" lol.

(*) = I'm never sure when to use she, he or it for anything not a person, but I would guess the vagina would be considered female by english speakers.

I think it is a bit weird to say a lot of women enjoy double penetration. I do not know anyone who has tried it (and I know some reasonably sexually curious people), I did also see an interview once with a female porn star who said that it actually hurts in a lot of circumstances.
Personally I would not do anal, mainly because I am female and I already have a perfectly good spot for any sexual encounters. Men actually derive more pleasure from it than women anyway.

I would not say Cosette is an idiot per se... just that the universe appears to be against her and she is trying to get hers before thngs go badly again.

Love the gamer-theme specials for #1550.

1. Murloc(k) Mocha (World of Warcraft reference!  it's "arglglglglglh!" good!)

2. Cthulu Chai (has a cult following, I hear)

3. Eldritch Muffins (D&D reference...?)

As for anecdotes, i think some comics could use more use more walls of text.  Might spur some better writing with them.

Also, I hope things turn out well for Cosette (though not necessarily "easily", this is a humour series after all... ).

Depends if you think "a lot" means "the majority" or "a large number" - the second definition is more common AFAIK, and more useful.
The trouble is then what counts as a large number; several hundred? Several thousand? Several million?
I would not be at all surprised if a global survey turned up several thousand women that enjoyed any given sexual practice, not just anal or DP, and not too terribly shocked if the same survey turned up several million for some. Of course this is at this point in time a factor of their being several billion women on the planet, of which a couple million is less than a percent.

Also, before I get distracted by work again; porn stars are not a good reference point for sexual enjoyment; they are after all not paid to enjoy sex. They are paid to have sex in front of, and present a facsimile of enjoyment (or not, depending on genre) to, the camera, regardless of actual discomfort - a normal couple (or triple) trying it out would naturally arrange themselves for maximum comfort and pleasure, regardless of whether that position would look good on a screen.

P.S. One porn star is not a representative sample of even all porn stars, much less all women everywhere. Statistics is such a pain in the ass...

And moving back into the comic - The poll results from yesterday

A gentleman

Takes his weight on his elbows  13 (23.2%)
At least offers dinner first  17 (30.4%)
Doesn't tell  15 (26.8%)
Is representative of a patriarchal and hierarchical ideal  11 (19.6%)

And here I thought the last one would be more popular, goes to show what I know.  Hope you all enjoy the QC/Shortpacked crossover.

Obviously I do not think that porn stars are an indication of normal women, or that a singular one would be able to speak for others. Really I did not have a point, it was just something I saw once which pops into my head whenever such a discussion comes up. Of course know that they are not paid to enjoy it, I am not that naive.

"A lot" is such a vague description anyway, that I assumed to mean a common thing that most people would encounter. I was simply stating that in my experience I have not come across it that often. Probably because I do not know too many men who would be willing to join in on such a scenario due to them being straight and unwilling to share, bisexual but not interested in group sex, or gay and therefore not interested in the woman to begin with.

It also depends on what part of the world you are in, and the cultural practices even within your own community or family as to what you might find normal.

My choice was "Doesnt tell" btw.

Wrong glasses then. Thats wrong with her face. :-D

Uh, sharing ?!? I think the main issue is the fact you're practically fucking the other guy too, because you would be able to feel their penis as well, which is something we straight men dont want to do.

Err ... hu ? This has absolutely nothing to do with GG's bust size. And besides, GG has a chubby and quite muscular woman as lead.

The issue is much more with how well GG would fit into QC ... compared to OotS, anyway. As I dont know the other webcomics, so I have no opinion about them.

OotS is my favorite webcomic - QC my second favorite - but they wouldnt work well together. OotS is stick figures, after all. GG is quite cool too, and would fit much better into QC.

Thoroughly enjoyed the comic, the topic hijack/derail O_o not so much. But the last panel seems blurry (to me) and it makes me think my glasses are smudged... and that hurts my eyes. Loved the gamer and shortpacked references.

Once again, thanks to QC my run of the mill every day has been brightened  :-D

Now I'm going to warm up, my work's heater has broken and it's in the 40's -- not cold to many I'm sure, but to a hispanic person living in texas, that's pretty damn cold! Brr!

Err, 40 is indeed not cold to me. Rather time for eating ice and drinking a lot of water. But I guess you mean Fahrenheit and not Celsius. :D

In this case, I cant even blame you, as the metric unit is Kelvin, which is Celsius + ~273 (or Celsius is Kelvin - ~273).

Now 40 degree Kelvin, THAT is COLD (too cold to survive it, even).

GG had a kick ass coffee shop - and Agatha could probably have fixed the broken expresso machine with some spare parts from pintsize.

OoTS is one of my favs as well, I just think Durkon would be disappointed that he couldn't get any beer in the shop and that Belkar and Pintsize must never meet.

Brat - halla is the Nors gods as preteens  -Odin would hit on Faye and then have to explain the uncomfortablely placed axe to Frigg.

And who wouldn't want to see Sgt Schlock come in for a drink?  And does he get a serviceman's discount?

[...] The poll results from yesterday

A gentleman

Takes his weight on his elbows  13 (23.2%)
At least offers dinner first  17 (30.4%)
Doesn't tell  15 (26.8%)
Is representative of a patriarchal and hierarchical ideal  11 (19.6%)

Total Voters: 56

And here I thought the last one would be more popular, goes to show what I know. [...]
...My choice was "Doesnt tell" btw.

And mine was "Takes his weight on his elbows"

So was mine!  Guess we have similar standards of gentlemanliness.

I think I find that disturbing.  I know you should!

While I know of a few of the webcomics in the poll, I haven't read any of them.

So my write-in vote (for all that's worth) is Something Positive.  Or is that too obvious a choice?   :-)

Also possibly interesting choices would be Girls with Slingshots or Least I Could Do.  Love or hate LICD (and believe me, I've done both--I gave up on it a year ago), if you're familiar with Rayne Summers you have to admit it'd be hilarious to see him try to pick up Faye and meet the business end of a coffeemaker.  Or to see Hanners freaked out by the llama.

I like the occasional wall of text.

I voted for Brathalla, just to see Faye either slug Loki, or be nonplussed by a child giving her adult 'lip'*, although that, admittedly, would have been more fun with Faye's character as it was a few years (our time) back.

And Snubnose, one does not need two men. One man and a dildo work rather well, for both partners, or so I'm told.

Loving how "there is something with your face" girl has the same face as Faye (just different hairstyle and glasses).
this.agree();
And I'm amazed at Jeph's art having reached a point where there's enough facial distinction between characters that he can sneak in such a subtle visual joke.

Those first three all sound more regional than "lip."  Of course, they get a pass since Faye is from Savannah.

I haven't read many of the others either.  I'm with you on S*P and GwS, but those are both "slce of life" comics, like QC (OK, sans robots, talking cacti and silly putty cats).  So the crossing over of those universes wouldn't cause massive damage to the comic space-time continuum!

How about Octopus Pie?  Eve and Faye would hit it right off... or kill each other.  And the resident skinny blondes, Hanners and Hanna... well, never mind.  They would kill each other.

Small cameos, like this one with Shortpacked... or that one with Weregeeks a while back... just two ships passing in the night, or cross pollinating, or whatever webcomic artists do to each other when we're not looking... (eww).  It's so much fun!

For those of you that don't know these fine webcomics- you have a weekend, start reading!

Although be warned - Schlock Mercenary has been running daily for approx 9.5 years (since June 12, 2000) - that's right, 365 strips per year (366 in the leap years). and so without further ado, the links:

The most significant thing I noticed in this one was the level of the art. I especially liked the number of times Marten subtly moved between panels (his arms mainly).

It looks like the progressive changes are starting to become significantly noticeable again. Thats a good thing.

Hooo boy, Cosette sounds like a two legged train wreck.  I wonder if Steve has bitten off more than he can chew here - Even as a DoKYA Agent.

I'd love to see The Lounge  crew turn up at CoD

Note to Jeph: I am one of those strange individuals that actually like walls of text. It allows for much more character development per strip. Which in this case is good for getting to know Cosette better much more quickly than the other characters. So keep 'em coming.

The first two are available at Archive Binge! You can setup personal RSS feeds, so it gives you, say, 10 comics of SM per weekday. More comics should be on there...
