So far I don't see any family histories that are still good reasons to not go back. Unless you moved from the UK, in which case the reasons provide themselves.

My mum's family left Sri Lanka because of the civil unrest between the Tamhil Tigers and the Singhalese, my father and his parents fled Hungary after the Russians invaded. Like, literally running across the border while soldiers shot at them. I feel no particular attraction to either culture. If Australia had any culture outside of racism and being a cunt I wouldn't feel attraction to that culture either.

Thankfully the culture that exists has turned out to meet your desires exactly.

Co-opting the traditions of another country in an attempt to make yourself seem more exotic is pretty much ground level retarded.

Even though the world now would be unrecognizable compared to the world then, ancestral traditions are still an important part of some people's sense of identity. Granted, if you're obsessed with every aspect of your ancestral homeland's history or whatever, then yeah, that's pretty damn stupid. But there's nothing wrong with wearing full kilt regalia.

I mean shit, your other option is a tuxedo. FUCK wearing a tux. Flashing people takes so much more effort, and unless you're in a kilt, you can't play it off as an accident.

I now have a crush on all the boys who've posted pictures of themselves in plaid.

I am Pro checked shirts. Pro Gingham. Pro Furry hats.

I'm pretty sure that this shirt would not be improved by not being plaid.

At least my father's stopped wearing nothing but all paisley all the time, now he just sticks with leather jackets and berets.

Yes but when it comes to eating the flat leafed variety, also known as "Italian" or "continental", is much better than the more ornamental curly-leafed variety which is popularly used as garnish.

I really like paisley, just not on clothing.

Srsly, if my father wasn't an artist I would have pegged him for gay.

Hands up for Paisley! (My hand is up.) I have two Awesome oiginal 70's dresses from Liberty's. They are both paisley & both awesome. Not as awesome as that shirt & tie combo though....
