Probably could've stood to have a better host than that, but still,

F*CKED UP
SONIC YOUTH
EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY
THE BREEDERS
F**K BUTTONS

Is just gravy on top of the Don't Look Back line-up. Fuck yeah. So excited

Hallogallo (Michael Rother and Friends present the music of Neu!), Shellac, Fursaxa, Text Of Light (with Lee Ranaldo), Sian Alice Group, The Greenhornes, and Steve Albini card room confirmed for ATP NY 2010. Shellac usually sets up a softball game, too.

Brian Jonestown Massacre canceled and there are still openings for bands on Friday and Sunday, so hopefully they'll be announced soon.

Here's the full line up.

Bill Murray may be there! How weird.
A couple non-band things:
- There is also a book club this year and the Criterion Cinema movies have all been announced.

- Shellac usually hosts a softball game, so if you're interested, listen out for that. They usually say something about it during their show.

- There will be a BBQ by the outdoor pool. Kutsher's is a pretty big place, but they usually have signs up everywhere and they give you a small package when you get your wristbands that has a map and a summary of all the bands and movies.

Random stuff:
Make sure to bring lots of earplugs.
There's a little convenience store by stage one that sells raincoats and stuff if it turns out to be really rainy. The food court is usually a small bit of distance, but there's no sheltered walkways between it and the main building. It poured at least one day both years.
Most bands sell their merchandise the day they perform, but the ATP stuff sells out really fast.

Hey Dovs, how was Altar?

Gotta say, probably my least favorite release by either Boris or Sunn 0))).

Incredible.

Shane, I don't even listen to Sunn O))) at home, but I'm sure you're well-acquainted with the fact that they are a band who can only really be seriously appreciated live. I've only seen Sunn O))) once before and that was a straight drone performance, which was fine and all, but worked more as an endurance test and an experience than as anything genuinely enjoyable from a musical standpoint. I felt the straight-up gut-shaking stuff benefited far more from the presence of something with a little more light-n-shade, including some moments of actual, genuine beauty (after a fashion).

Also, I had the privilege of getting to view the show while standing alongside one of the paths to the entry/exit, and it was a great joy to take note of all the people leaving midway through the set. Also observing all the people entering without any ear protection, and thinking about just how truly fucked they were about to get.
