Just finished an EP sort of thing
« on: 15 Jan 2010, 18:46 »

Hate to be a thread starter but I just got done putting the finishing touches on an EP that I was working on for about a month.

5 songs, all of the titles are, like, professional wrestling references (although, despite using a couple samples, the lyrical content doesn't actually have anything to do with it).

If anyone feels like letting me know what I did right or wrong I would appreciate feedback.  Thanks!

Look into my eyes.

There was no double-post. There was no double-post. There was no double-post.

When I count to three you'll go back to your normal activities as if nothing unusual has happened today.

One . . .

Two . . .

Three.

This is actually really cool. Also this is kinda awkward but if that's you singing I'm a bit gay for your voice.

Track 4, the one with all the quotes in the name, is probably my favourite. Although I like the fuzzy background percussion in #2. And the samples work better than I expected 10 seconds into the first track.

Nice work.

Yeah, I'm only halfway into the first song and I'm already thinking that maybe this should make its way onto my mp3 player (this means something because my mp3 player only has a precious 2GBs, it's not one of them 'just throw it all on here' mp3 players). I'll get back when I have heard the rest, but so far, yeah!

The wrestling references piqued my interest so I'm going to give this a go later and let you know what I think.

I'm amused by the Owen Hart gag. I would've expected a more recent reference like Chris Benoit, but then you thought back far enough to mention Road Warrior Puke, and hardly anyone remembers him!

more recent reference like Chris Benoit

Quote
"While working as a booker for WCW, Kevin Sullivan conceived an angle where 'Woman' (Nancy Daus Sullivan, Sullivan's wife both on-screen and off), would leave his character for Chris Benoit's. Sullivan insisted that the two should travel together to preserve kayfabe for the general public. This resulted in Sullivan's wife legitimately leaving him for Benoit when the two developed a real-life romantic relationship during their time together. Nancy ultimately married Benoit in 2000 and they remained married until the double-murder-suicide."
-Sullivan's wiki

That fifth track title is just an insanely veiled reference to Benoit.
Also, that story is practically an opera waiting to happen, no joke.

*facepalm*

I even realised that when I saw that one of the songs was named after Sullivan, and managed to forget by the time I made the post.

sweet tunes, definitely gonna put it on my iPod.

nothing else to report really, I've only listened to it once at partial volume since I'm at work but I'm looking forward to cranking it up in my car later.

Also I would like to point out that the combination of Sailor Moon and faux-Kerouac / Sonic Youth spelling is perhaps the purest distillation of what this forum is that we have yet been presented with.

Unfortunately no, I'm not really a visual arts person.  The only way I'll be putting this out is probably just on old tapes I have anyways, so I'll maybe sew together some holders for it but I don't know if I'll be able to actually include any artwork with it.

Hmm. I really really like the first song. The others need a little more time to grow on me I think, im not as good with cutesy stuff and strange beeps and squiggles.

If you ask nicely I guess I can Frisbee™ you guys.

That would be pretty awesome of you! I believe you know I am a bit of a fan of your blog, but I am aware that it is not similar to what you normally post (p.s. it's not actually a band, it's just me).
