At about four o'clock I got sick of the library and had a craving for apple compote, so I wandered into the village my college is named after to look for the shops I'd heard rumours of (I've been shopping in the city centre all year). After an hour I had to admit that I wasn't really where I'd planned to be, but I'd seen some beautiful scenery by the river and some incredibly huge and expensive houses. A man gave me some directions back to the village and it turns out that the shops I'd heard about are nestled behind the Co-op that I've actually been to half a dozen times.

So I bought things to make apple compote and chocolate mousse from the man in the delicatessen/general store and he also gave me a little leaflet about the village. It's a pricey place to shop but it's a five minute walk and it's really nice, a lovely little local store and I think I found the bakery that everyone raves about but it doesn't have a sign and it was closed.

That was pretty nice. Now my feet hurt and my legs are tingling from brisk walking in the cold, but in about half an hour I'll go down for dinner and have a chat with my friends from the telephone campaign and then come back to my room and make some delicious desserts for tomorrow's dinner party.

My friend took my panda. :(

I showed it to him and he thought I was giving it to him and looked so happy at the prospect that I couldn't say no.

Man that's pretty tricky. I'm gonna try that. Next time someone shows me something I'm going to be all "For me?!? You shouldn't have!" and then puppy-eyes at them until they hand over the loot.

Just step it up a notch and pick other people's things up and apply that same approach.

"A hot toasted sandwich? Fresh out of the oven? For me? PUPPY DOG EYES!?"

P.S. it is essential to actually shout PUPPY DOG EYES at them while making the puppy-dog eyes.

man you know those moments of pristine awareness of the inevitability of death and the discontinuation of your existence?
I haven't had that feeling in a while and I was thinking how I missed that feeling because I have kind of been emotionally/intellectually numb for a while now but just now I actually remembered that overpowering knowledge that I am not eternal and man that was not good.
It is OK though because I just need to go online distract myself with kittens and then quickly go back to sleep before I think about it again.
It's like the time I'd wrecked my hands with hot peppers and all I needed to do to go to sleep was to soak my hands in ice water until they were numb and then fall asleep before my hands thawed and I could feel that pain again.
Except I couldn't actually sleep at all.
Until the next night when I got a prescription for topical anesthetic.

Maybe this is not the proper venue for this? I wonder what this venue has become these days.

I've come to the conclusion that Anna has actually been possessed by a spambot.

Blog thread, I am meant to be making chocolate mousse and going to a dinner (which is in a room two doors away, but I have to go to a kitchen ten minutes away to make the mousse because that is where my whisk is) and I just want to sleep. Apparently 5.45am is a good time to wake me up, according to Stilton.

Today I went to Borders and spent too much money on books. We got a french cookbook, and The Bread Baker's Apprentice. I'm pretty excited!

I also bought a new expansion for my sims. And tried on toe shoes! I may end up getting some of those. I also got to geek out at REI about camping stuff, and next summer my boyfriend and I are going to go backpacking!

Now we are headed to grocery shop for some delicious foods.

Blog thread, tonight I am DJing at the local goth club. It's gonna be awesome. I'm planning on not drinking in order to save money and hopefully cut back on the booze. Who knows though, these nights are usually pretty crazy.

Toe... shoes?

All of my shoes are for my toes.

I will post a pick when I get home, but they are these shoes with single slots for your toes. I am not explaining this very well. They are good for running and maybe climbing, and give you better balance and foot control and uses all your muscles because your toes are free to move individually.

I guess what with our shoe designs having so many toes really isn't that necessary. I could probably get by with two or three larger ones on my feet instead of all five of these guys.

I hate my pinky toes. If I had to get rid of a toe, it'd be that one. Anyway, these are what I was on about:

And they were the best, and basically, I should have not let the $85 price tag scare me away from buying them just yet, and I should have gone ahead and bought them already. Basically, everything I'm reading about them is telling me that yes, I should have bought them. I will probably buy them next month.

A friend of mine has a pair of those... they look kind of weird, but she said that they help with back problems and stuff?  She also said, however, that once some people in a shop gave her a hard time, arguing that they didn't qualify as shoes according to their "no shirt, no shoes, no service" policy.

Dovey, it says on the tube not to do it. Why'd you do a silly thing?

Also, I know they look sort of weird, and thats a bit partially why I like them so much. But I mostly want them because I hear that they are great for running, and I've been getting into running lately(woo going to the gym and spending my entire warm up time running!), and I'd been experiencing some horrible pain in my shins, and I honestly think its my shoes. Plus I never wear shoes when I don't have to. When I got home today, as soon as I stepped in the house I kicked off my already pretty nonexistent shoes(they are like these cheap canvas-y shoes with basically nothing hard on the bottom, its like wearing a thick sock in public). Plus running around the store I tried them in was super nice.

Basically, iwanttheseshoessobad!!!!

I forgot to add:

So the other day I made this tasty as hell asiago focaccia. I went to make it again just now, and basically don't have enough asiago left to make it. But I thought ahead and bought a block of some fancy gouda, and I just tried it and.... IT IS AMAZING. I love cheese. And bread. And combining them! And I'm so excited for this loaf.

Also, with my new job making me be on my feet constantly I think these would super help.

Also, crocs are ugly and dumb and I never liked them.

I just found out that one of my good friends, who I've known for almost thirteen years since we were at high school together along with a whole bunch of other really cool people who are my dearest friends, got married on the weekend to his long-term girlfriend, who I've also known ever since moving down to Melbourne almost six years ago. I had no idea they were even engaged.

I've been looking through all the photos of the wedding on Facebook. All our mutual friends are in them. They look like they had a great time.

Feeln' shit.
