I believe what happened is a Spambot got past the safeguards and managed to post on the QC Discussion Forum.

Looks like the Hosties have managed to clear it out now though.

As I recall, it wasn't that a spambot got past the filters, it's that a hacker got an account and then planted a spambot. The account that was spamming was formed months ago and had no posts.
