Aw man, there's too many good choices. I think I have to go with nuking, though. Politeness is too tame, and hot coffee seems harsh, especially if it's Rockstar coffee.  IP bans have a sour taste ever since I got permabanned from TV Tropes for disagreeing with a mod (Seriously, no warning, I didn't even swear or delete anything. I just had the nerve to question the deletion of a couple pictures and the locking of a page). Phasers were kind of ruined by the new movie, and Caprica doesn't have airlocks. So, nuking. Good for coffee, popcorn, and aliens.

2010 is already 1/12 over. Think about that!

Jibber your jabber.

Godamnit, when will my mastery of time birthday wish come true? Isn't 15 times (I was a very ambitious 5 year old) enough?

Dude, that's harsh. I didn't know that TvTropes had the same moderation policy as Conservapedia.

Dude, that's harsh. I didn't know that TvTropes had the same moderation policy as Conservapedia.

I know, it was the weirdest thing. I thought TV Tropes was excellent after encountering the bureaucratic stuffiness of Wikipedia, but one conflict with wrong person and me, my dad (when I asked on their talk page and one of the articles discussion page what happened), and one of my friends (from whose house I only made a single forum post asking what happened) are now all banned from the site forever.

If you ever ever see an edit by someone named Janitor, just steer clear of that article for a while.

EDIT for comic appearance:

Awwww! Nothing more romantic than discussion of bodily foibles!

And I think Jeph did a fine job with the art.

If you ever ever see an edit by someone named Janitor, just steer clear of that article for a while.

Well Janitor is certainly one of the main TV Tropes mods, but I've found her quite reasonable and friendly, even on occasions where we disagreed politely but strongly about editing an entry. No aggro, no bans, no threats, no drama. Like me, she has English as a second language (she's Korean, as explained on her TV Tropes Contributor page), but I've never had a problem communicating with her.

Apropos of today's comic, I loved the art. The contrast between the refined drawing and the crude humour made the whole comic even funnier.

Dora's seriously kawaii eyes in the last panel as she admits to the gassing was a nice touch, reminiscent of fart-chan.

It seems to me that of all the people in QC right now, the first two to tie the knot will be Marten and Dora. I'm not saying it's gonna happen soon (definitely not) but they already act like a married couple sometimes (and heck! they've acted like Faye and Hanner's parents in the past).

Its funny how Dora progresses through the four panels, by the way.

She starts off "on top" by sitting while Marten is lying.

Next panel she's same level.

Third panel she's below Martens level.

Fourth panel she's all cute little girl.

Doesnt really fit her lol.

I am very, very impressed by the art on this one. Perspective drawing, like in panel one, usually looks pasted-on kind of weird when jeph does it, but in this one it looks really good. Just as the rest of it, and it's also funny! What a good way to start the week.

Can anyone explain this week's oglaf?  I don't get it.

The flatbear turns people into grunting barbarians! Although I don't know what "They blow in on the Northerlies" is supposed to mean, but it's funny all the same.

First profile of Marten I can recall where he doesn't remind me of a dipping bird*. In fact, he looks awesome, as does Dora. Excellent, excellent, excellent art!

And at that relationship point, in my experience, the mystery becomes: "Why does she stay with me?"

I've been on a BSG kick lately so I chose the airlock - just make sure the Hub isn't in range - but nuking them from orbit was a close run second.

Can we do both?

There was a thread once about whether Dora and Marten's relationship would last, and it looks like we're getting an answer here. They have a relationship that will stand up to the force of reality, which is at least a solid start.

Myself, I learned to fear the 'great casualness.' It was patiently explained to me that it 'didn't matter any more'; that if I happened to be perched on the throne when she wanted something from the bathroom, she could simply barge right in.

What a terrible thing to do to a product of American Victorianism.

Right. Although in this case it might actually be more effective to nuke first, then shove out the airlock, confident they've nowhere to go and no ready source of help.

How true - some things are better left to the mysteries of the ages.  You can be as close as you like, but some personal space on occasion is still nice.  It's a delicate negotiation!

Of course, other niceties also fall by the wayside.  My wife and I have degenerated to the point of Dan & Roseanne.  We had the following conversation this morning;  by way of background, she's come down with a horrible cold...

"In case there was any doubt, I am officially dying."

"Officially?  But I haven't made any arrangements yet!"

"Well, just remember, mixed flowers are cheaper for a casket spray than roses."

"Flowers?"

The tissue box missed my head by mere inches...

She has the metabolism of a ferret and eats bran muffins like potato chips, so farting is inevitable.  In fact, I think he's fortunate if that's the worst he's had to deal with.

Come to think of it, Faye won't be very happy the cave of a hundred asses has come to her home to roost...

Question:    What's the best way to deal with unruly coffee-shop-costumers/internet trolls?  (Voting closes: February 08, 2010, 01:13:00 AM)
Ask them politely to leave.    3 (6.4%)
Throw hot coffee on them.    4 (8.5%)
IP ban them.    5 (10.6%)
Set phasers to stun.    6 (12.8%)
Throw them out an airlock (frakkin' Cylons!)    13 (27.7%)
Nuke them from orbit. (It's the only way to be sure)    16 (34%)

New poll is up, and If you haven't seen the Bill Murray flick and aren't familiar with what is a quintessentially American tradition, today is Groundhog Day

Understand that I read this comic after reading #117 mere hours before. Maybe Faye knows she's lucky to be getting away with with just being snuggled. Also, it is possible Faye's room has no windows—it seems like I recall her bedrooms to the right, the windows to the left— making defenestration tricky, unless Faye's stronger than we know.
