How do you tell an introverted computer geek from an extroverted one?

The introvert stares at his shoes while you're talking to him. The extroverted computer geek lifts up his gaze to your shoes.

EDIT now that the comic is up: a mystery solved! And Faye is willing to be humane. And "pocky drifts" is a great mental picture and turn of phrase.

Gotta admit the hipster indie band culture is a bit annoying at times.
Only bands whose members can swing on bullwhips across a spike-filled pit are genuinely "indie". Actually, actually making them do it would make great TV. Skinny white-boys, with concave chests and pipe-cleaner arms, plummeting to their doom could be quite entertaining.

I'm totally blown away by the facial expressions in tonight's strip. And you can keep your Mari-chan maido; I'm totally seeing wallpaper of Angus as Don Quixote, Marigold as Dulcinea, and... Faye as Sancho Panza.

Take that, Angus detractors!

I'm totally seeing wallpaper of Angus as Don Quixote, Marigold as Dulcinea, and... Faye as Sancho Panza.

I'd just like to see the last one of those.

The analogy isn't so far off Angus - Don Quixote WANTED to be the white knight, he was just a couple of hundred years and wee touch of reality too late.

I see Faye more as a windmill-giant.

Always sparring with Angus Quixote, and often throwing him...

Momo is Sancho Panza.  Or maybe Marten, slouching along...

And Faye acknowledged that Marigold isn't prepared to defend herself form Faye's barbs.

Maybe she's not the complete bitch that everyone thought she was either.

Ah, today's comic was a nice exchange. Angus really does try well. Mari probably never had anyone really stand up for her.

Wait, how can Faye be critical of her. Isn't Faye so fucked in the head that she can't form lasting relationships?

Proof that Angus isn't the horrible jerk the comic seemed to be trying to turn him into!

On a side note, does that make Faye Dulcinea and Marigold Sancho? Or Faye Sancho and Marigold Dulcinea? Either way I'm with everybody else; wallpaper this shit Jeph!

Just because Faye's got some issues that doesn't mean that she can't be mean, the last person to live by the phrase, "Let him without sin cast the first stone." got nailed to 2 pieces of wood for his troubles.

Showing how important it is to avoid loopholes. "Let him without sin nail people to two pieces of wood" might have been better.

Or maybe he has a dinghy.

And I think massive cast exsanguination sounds wonderful.

Yay, the cast is now all vampires!

So long as they don't fucking sparkle.

I think Tai Faye sounds better.
Of course you do. As I've said before, that can be a dangerous pastime. I think a younger QC version of Elvis Herselvis should play Smiff and sweep Tai off her feet and out of town. Far, far, out of town. But that's not likely to happen either.

And Faye said Angus is "almost cute"! He's making headway, sailing his rowboat through the treacherous Straits of Faye!

Or maybe he has a dinghy.
More like he's about to make the run between Scylla and Kharybdis, although which girl is which remains open to question. Either way, Angus needs a Circe, soon.

You know, it amazes me that so many people can be so judgemental of someone (even just a comic character) unless he has perfect skill in all social situations.  Sometimes people say the wrong thing, or don't know how to react or behave in a given situation.  I expect these people judging Sven and Angus to be jackasses never make a social mistake.

Busy having a boyfriend? I don't think they've been together more than 2 years, tops, in QC time (was gonna say a year, but 2 to be safe). She's had the business for at least twice that long.

Also, a CoD site needs to be made now.

"The code itself isn't that bad. I mean, for an amateur."

Ooooh! Burn! I guess we no longer have to wonder what Marigold does for a living. I mean, I often hit the "display page source" key on visiting a new web site, but how many people outside "the industry" do that? And honestly, unless the CoD site is all Web 2.0 and dripping with Java, it's really a bit pretentious to talk about "code". HTML is a markup language for goodness sake! Back in the day, before the advent of WYSIWYG interfaces, secretaries used to use document markup to format their letters. It ain't exactly rocket science.

And Dora seems remarkably defensive about her leet programming skillz. After all, she is an amateur. Nothing wrong with that. I'm sure I'd make a shitty latté.

Heh, I had just finished up some Web work myself (yes, professionally) when I decided to check in on this.  GET OUT OF MY HEAD, JEPH!

Also it's a pity "amateur" has acquired the connotation of "sucks at it," seeing how pretty much everyone's an amateur at all but one thing.  That's one thing that's only gotten more true as time has gone by.

If you recall, Dora has some computer skills—remember when she got Pintsize up and running (way back when)? So she may very well have loaded the site up with various web-geegaws. In any case, Faye simply can't resist stirring things up, can she? Since she can't attack Marigold, she tries to get Marigold to make a run at Dora with her.

shitty latté.

I worked on sites long before "Web 2.0" was thought of that were dripping with Javascript; it's amazing how much Javascript could be written to make a simple drop-down menu compatible with many browsers in the days before CSS (and depressing how crap most Javascript code was).

And poll change time:

What else do they need at Coffee of Doom?

Internet Cafe-style workstations    - 4 (6.6%)
The Restaurant idea Dora tweeted about    - 10 (16.4%)
Wide-screen Plasma TV    - 6 (9.8%)
Chocolate Fountain!    - 13 (21.3%)

I'm not sure I feel for Dora at all in this.  That barb about having a real life instead of programming probably hit Marigold pretty hard...

It's not like Marigold would have to work that hard to get a boyfriend.

All she has to do is find a friend with some past emotional trauma, and steal the boy she keeps at arms length but may be the only thing between her and complete self-destruction!
