Or worse, she forgets to come back.

Now there's a challenging creative writing exercise. Come up with a story in which this ends well.

That's certainly expecting an awful lot from Dora to just allow that. That's the kind of phone call that leads to, "Sure, take all the time in the world off. Don't plan on working here ever again."

Of course if people really do come in for Faye's sass, once they find out Faye's gone they might stop coming in, and then where would Dora be? This whole thing really sucks for Dora as a business owner, actually.

The best outcome would be to fix up tacos for all and take it to CoD.  After being a hit, Dora decides to install the kitchen and hire Angus as taco-chef.

Although tacos and coffee just don't sond like that pleasant a combination, either.  Dora'd have to install new, bigger restrooms...

I really don't want to see Marigold sloshed.  She'll embarass the hell out of herself right before passing out.

I really don't want to see Faye sloshed.  She's come quite a way from drinking away the pain.

Angus could be funny sloshed.  But he'd probably get weepy, too.  I really don't want to see a weepy drunk.

Wake me when it's over!

I feel sorry for Faye. Early on Dora was a friend and a good boss by most standards.

Since then, Dora has 'stolen' her love interest, takes up a large portion of her best friend's time, and moved into her house. I get annoyed working with the same people for 12 hours straight on university projects, never being able to get a moment away from someone must be pretty hard, especially when they have seniority over you for a majority of that time.

That said, she is treading a dangerous line with skipping out from work. Maybe it would be good for her to loose the job though. She could become a full time artist, with the sculpture for Dora being the kick start for that...

Raven skipped an entire shift when she went to Canada and met the homeless guy, leaving Marten and Hannelore in charge of the store.  She didn't get fired for that so it wouldn't be particularly consistent if Dora fired Faye for missing part of a shift to drink.

Consistency, even I, her frantic fan, will admit may not be Dora's strong point. Then again, is it anyone's*?

I was going to start another thread buuuttt it's the end of the week. Does anyone really care? Evidence from past WTCs indicate 'not one damn in a thousand.'

we simply have no idea how close they are to sentience, and how much the products of clever programming.
Do we know that of other people, or even ourselves?
Now we're getting into or at least verging on Solipsism, which is, to me, the philosophical equivalent of masturbation—rub it enough and, sure, something happens, but it really only matters to you, by definition.

*Okay, you can all start with the falsehoods now.

Edit: sorry, Cold, didn't see the thread. http://forums.questionablecontent.net/index.php/topic,24620.0.html

Well, it'd be pretty rude for Faye not to call Dora and it'd be pretty rude of her to just inform her that she's staying and not ask if it's alright.  After which Dora, liking Faye and being friends and all, will judge the situation to see if she needs Faye to come back because it got really busy, and if she doesn't she'll presumably let her have her fun.

The smart thing to do is say - "I've got to finsh my shift, then I'll be back for dinner."

It's what I would do, but then skipping out on one of my jobs (and my main one until I started with the public service) can result in jail... so I may have had an incentive not to skip out early without telling the boss.

We've seen Angus drunk, in the Awkward Zone sequence, and on that occasion at least he didn't get all weepy. Though it wouldn't be a surprise if he did on this occasion.

I'm fully expecting either Faye to get drunk enough to kiss Angus, causing Marigold to flip out, or Marigold to get drunk enough to spill about her crush. Or both.

Hopefully it won't be paired with Faye getting fired, but that's not out of the question.

In the long run, that might be good for Faye. She is in a rut. Being a barista does not fulfill all of her potential.

Living with Dora after getting fired by her would also be in accord with the Principle of Maximum Awkwardness.

Dora fires Faye

Marten is torn, suffers a nervous breakdown and becomes catatonic when Dora won't forgive Faye

Pintsize goes on a rampage and has to be destroyed by FBI Special Agent Vespa Avenger

Dora becomes a wreck, becomes a foodaholic, balloons to 300lbs before being committed and forceably made to diet.

Faye becomes a Lesbian Biker and forces Hanners to be her Bitch.

Marigold and Angus take over CoD and after five years turn it into a worldwide franchise by making a hostile takeover of Starbucks

Oh, I can just see how  swimmingly that would go. First step: Hannermom's new ad campaign:

Cup of joe, black, for the business guy
Soy lattes all round for the hipsters
Cappachino for the moms just passing by
Espresso for hungover two-fisters

In the morning, while the shadows die
One cup to pick you up
One cup to juice you
Add a fresh bran muffin in
To get your bowels loose, too
In the morning, while the shadows die

I'll buy Vespavenger as Saruman.
I think I need to move Neckbeard to playing Gollum. With Vespavenger as Saruman, I suppose any of Sven's disgruntled ex's could be Wormtongue. And no, Hanners stays as Frodo. Who else could flail madly if something (the Ring) is out of its proper place, or maintain a veneer of  innocence while throwing lines like "Next time you try something, into the fire you go," or "The Ring is mine!"

I have a strange desire to see fanart of Winslow carrying Hannelore up Mt. Doom.
Funny, I was thinking the same thing about Marigold and Momo as Gimli and Legolas at the Hornburg.

Marten may be puny, but he has heart. Remember how he tried to stand, twice, against the Wrath of the Vespavenger? Put him in training for a few decades, he'd be fine.

Well if Marten is Aragorn, he's got like seventy years to get ready - he's only due to be crowned king on his 90th birthday, or something like that.

Also, does anyone else get weirded out by the fact that Arwen, who is several thousand years old by the time of the books, is so enamoured of one so young?

Elrond comes to mind.

Honestly, though, that's nothing to Tuor and Idril, who was a third-generation Noldor. And, come to think of it, Lúthien Tinúviel was half 'angel' (her mother was a Maia, and I'm not sure when Lúthien was born, but the Two Trees were in flower, which puts her back a bit from Beren). Anyway, it's a family tradition. You know how those are.
