Well she used to when it was long back when she met marten, its been short for awhile and looks like it is getting longer.

I had a feeling good old hanners would stop by.

If you could get Hannelore to compete, she would be a champion UFC fighter with that speed. How unsanitary do you think their gloves and sweat must be? Hers would be boiled between rounds, of course.
The problem is, she'd have to actually put in some offense to actually win. Otherwise, she'd just be a faster version of Kalib Starnes.

For those who don't want to watch the whole fight, Starnes ran away from Nate Quarry for 15 minutes without doing much anything else.

Ha!  I knew Hanners would come!

Also, is it just me, or does Hanners' hair look kind of animeish?

Somewhat. Ever since she cut her hair i've thought she looked like this character from Bleach called Kotetsu Isane.

I must say, I'm very touched and impressed with Hanners. She's trying to overcome her aversion to touching in order to be a friend to Marigold. At least there wasn't any skin contact or we'd have seen her reach Speed Force-levels of awesome.

<joking>I wonder how Tai's going to take this? *wink/nudge*</joking>

Northampton, MA.…is nicknamed The Paradise City.
So the grass is green and the girls are pretty?

Don't know about that, but judging by the faux-castle in the Wikipedia photograph, they hired Walt Disney as the town planner.

What part of "fourth panel" didn't you understand?

I had called for it (yay, go me), but I'm still impressed by Hanners' self-control when Marigold hugged her. It's obvious she's startled but she dominates her reflexes to do what she's supposed to. Well, within certain limits, granted.

As for what happens in the sixth panel, I fear that, alas, no porcelain is involved.

Reminds me of when she projected Sven's cat across the room

Also, poor Mari - cry yourself to sleep, then wake up crying.  Usually "morning amnesia" prevents that sort of thing.

And then vomit.

Not a good start to her day!

Holy molly, Hanner's hair it's so awesome.

It's Helmet hair.  She was wearing the Worry Hat when her house of cards collapsed (Nice metaphor, Jeph!).  I'm guessing she didn't sleep much, either.  So it's still pretty flat.

No, the fourth panel... Or third line, second window.

She was actually ALLOWING Marigold to HUG her (remember the 5H rule?).

Let's hear it for Hanners overcoming her mnemonic!

At first, I thought Angus was commenting on Marigold's speed in leaving her boob-lock on Hanners (three cheers for not throwing Mar-Bear across the room into the hamper!) and fleeing to the bathroom to hork. It actually took me a couple of reads to realize that Jeff just doesn't use "hites" all that much. The jaunty angle of fleeing Hanner-hair finally hit me with the clue stick.

I'd like to know how Hanners managed, between panels 3A and 3B, to free her arms. Of course, between 4A and 4B, she freed her whole self, ninja style. I wonder if she's taken lessons from Short Packed!'s Ninja Rick. Ninjas are clean creatures, right?

Maybe there will be a new 5H mnemonic.

I'm thinking Hannelore's just on another heavy medication.  While it would be nice to have her suddenly able to get over her OCD for her friend in need, given her history it's not very realistic.

Yes, I was impressed Marigold managed to wake up sobbing. I agree, t'would think the hurling'd come first. An the other hand, that kind of hard crying sends tons of mucus down your throat—just the thing to set the already-stressed upper G.I. into reverse gear. If she hadn't been weeping, I'm thinking Marigold would've made it to the bathroom. Then again, she might not have my mad skillz in this area (As a child, a variety of food allergies made me perfect the sudden dash to face-embrace the throne, including a facial expression that made even the daftest relative get out of the way).

As for what happens in the sixth panel, I fear that, alas, no porcelain is involved.
Yes, that's a set-up for a floor-splat if ever there was one—especially with Hannelore dematerializing from underneath her. If Marigold managed to miss the bed.

Personally, you need to recruit her for the olympic sprint teams -

Since when do fart jokes qualify as humor?

Well, if you really want to go back you can start with the classical Greek playwright Aristophanes, who in two plays - The Knights, and The Clouds, cracks fart jokes.

Hell, Aristophanes even made masturbation jokes.

I'm sure the Linux AnthroPC would indignantly deny having an "owner". In any event, we have never met PT-410X's, um, companion human.

Re walking around alone at night: would you mess with Faye? Took out a G-man with one blow, what would she do to some random thug?

Heh, indeed.  I like the term "companion human" -- the PT-410X probably would refer to the person as something like that.   :-D  And while I doubt most folks in the QC-verse know Faye took out a G-man, she does likely have a rep (she was offered a job as a bouncer after tossing Angus across the room, as I recall), and her ability to defend herself would add to her self-confidence while wandering the streets at night.  Hell, Angus is probably safer WITH her in that regard, since she's ceased (temporarily?) pummeling him and whatnot.

About today's strip: I like that Hannelore went over there -- by the look of it, first thing in the morning -- to console Marigold AND managed to bear the, er, bearhug she got, at least until her catlike/ninja reflexes kicked in with the first hint of pukage.  Marigold's night could have been worse -- she did seem to have gotten some sleep, instead of being on the cold bathroom floor, propped up against the toilet all night.  There may be a mess to clean up, sure, but Hanners is a pro at that, bio-suit and all.  And it's not like Marbear is motorboating Hanners, she's just crying on her.  Perhaps the back-and-forth drawings between Jeph and Danielle Corsetto inspired him to draw panel 4 that way just for giggles (not that Jeph would EVER taunt the shippers, no way!).

Also: what, no new poll?

Also I think he sits AT the right hand of Yahweh, not ON it.

I would say that in general ON is more idiomatic in modern English speech than AT (e.g. "sit here on my right"), so for that phrase it depends what translation of the original is being quoted.  Though in Acts 7:55-56, where the phrase comes twice, I find that the King James translation uses ON, and the modern ones I've looked at use AT!

I am constantly impressed with how Jeph expands his characters, and in believable ways. Those who believe that Hanners is just on heavy medicine again, instead of working to overcome her issues for the sake of comforting her closest friend... shame on you. There's even a precedent! Do you not recall (I am far too lazy to actually dig up the link to this particular plot arc) when her mother came to town and made that bet with Marten? She went through it. Just for Marten... or well, to prove herself. Or maybe she was just that drunk. But, it did set a precedent. When she puts her mind to something, Hanners conquers all. For that, I truly admire her, even more so for so well living with her multitude of problems. (Yes, I know that many people live as well as, and in some cases, even better, than she does with the same disorder... but I know just as well that there are a startling number who refuse to venture outside their homes.)

I feel so bad for Marigold... but on the flipside, Angus must be thinking something along the lines of damn, I wish I had a camera to record this! Seriously - that would definitely have won the prize on my family's old favorite TV show, America's Funniest (home) Videos!

Not trying to be too much of an ass, but Aristophanes predates he who sits on the right hand of Yahweh.

By a few hundred years if memory serves

Also I think he sits AT the right hand of Yahweh, not ON it.

Spoken from experience, no doubt!

It's a shame - the best things for the hangover she's going to have are water and protien (hence all those damn "recipes" that have raw egg in them).

But nothing's going to stay down (least of all eggs, raw or cooked) for quite a while.

Marigold, I'd like to intropduce you to Misery.  Misery, Marigold.  You two get to know each other for a few hours, I'll be back later...

Err... I know this is kind of off-topic, but has the colour scheme changed for anyone else?

EDIT: Guess not.

Apropos of nothing, I was fishing around on youtube (Bo Burnham's kinda like a sick puppy), and I thought I'd dig up this...

Border Reiver, do not follow that link!  No more dead kittens, please.

It's the extended version, off the 12" 45 EP single released in '82, and yes, that's a full 9 minutes of classic stereo bompin'!

House music from before you were born, kiddies!

I say that Magical Love Gentlemen becomes the main comic, this is the only option for Jeph now.

Man, how do I get my groin to glow like that? Does it involve being at Ground Zero of an H-bomb detonation, or falling into the Large Hadron Collider, or what?
