Yeah...my theory is that Hanners' biological clock has started ticking. Its so intense for her that she invents the artificial womb, steals a guys sperm (whom she has previously judged to be the perfect donor (probably Marten's)), sends all the equipment up to her dad in the space station, and viola, we have a perfect OCD Hannerbaby for her to take care of.

I'd have just suggested stealing a baby from the maternity ward adopting, but your idea is just crazy enough to work!

Reminds me of when she projected Sven's cat across the room!

Is it weird that Hanner's face in the last panel of that one always made me think of salad fingers?

hahahahahaahhahahaha... i totally see that..

I was wondering, too, how Hanners learned to do the Mom thing, considering her example. That maternal look in panel five is, well, moving, and not at all what we'd expect from Sauron her mother. Maybe her dad, defying all preconceptions, is like that, at least when he's not planning how to accidentally reconfigure the universe.

Yes, partially ninja'd. Care? No. (It's just Carl)
I think I know where she got it: Dora (check out strip 1317).

Hannelore's hair looks different.

Not bad, just different. It looks like it's got a lot of perspective work to it, so it's probably harder to draw.

Could be. If so, shows how a kindness multiplies.

I thought it might be, but wasn't sure. That's got to be a singular shower curtain, unless bandicoots have become suddenly popular. Well, there's Crash, but he doesn't look like that.

Also, Hanners won't go Super Saiyan from her freak out, she'll transform into Freakazoid, because everyone knows thats what a freak out does.

...Okay, that'd explain where Annie from The Meaning of Lila went, but when did Hannelore go to Cleveland?

So don't.  This isn't just about her, you know!  Angus' point of view is a good one for the current arc, and some people are looking at this from Hannelore's side of things.

But soon we'll be off mucking about in someone esle's angsty life.  Mind you, it may be a few weeks - we're talking QC time!

Bear in mind that characters in this strip are like the weather - wait a little while, they'll change!

I dunno—I'm still hoping Mr. Clean will blow into town and sweep Hanners off her feet. Or maybe mop her off her feet. Whichever.

The "relationship" is going to be a close friendship.

But what is Hanners getting out of it? Marigirl gets emotional and practical support. Hannelore gets, what, yaoi? I'm impressed that Hannelore has anything to give after dealing with her own problems, but it doesn't seem like Marigirl is managing that much herself.

I think a little of what Hanners is "getting" is someone to whom she's able to give.

Sometimes, that's all it takes.  Given time, it may grow into more and strengthen as a friendsip, but for now it seems to be enough.

Heaven forbid Marigold turn to Hanners for relationship advice - although if the practice boyfriend-bot is still around, and Momo's social protocol can be uploaded...

Never mind, that would be a terrible idea.  "You're nowhere near as considerate as my first boyfriend!" are words no man wants to hear!

Is there an anti-social protocol?

Pintsize isn't antisocial; he's destructosocial. To wit, he believes that mockery, pranks, 'gross-outs,' destruction of property, lame attempts at cheap sexual thrills, and really disgusting pronpics are the means by which to create a firmer, more lasting social bond. In other words, he's much like a hormone-crazed, thirteen-year-old boy with unsupervised internet access.

Well, you didn't have Alley Sheedy trapping you between her legs. I liked her in that movie, not anticipating the horror she would later unleash: Short Circuit.

Actually, what you describe is anti-social. Anti-social individuals see the world as a play thing (or potential shooting range...). If you do things 100% for the lulz, it's likely you are being anti-social. People often get anti-social confused with non-sociable or social anxiety.

As in the xkcd store's t-shirt that says "Just shy, not antisocial. You can talk to me!".

Which I own and love.
