Greasemonkey!
« on: 03 Aug 2011, 16:55 »

So a lot of you are probably familiar with the Firefox add-on Greasemonkey. Well until recently, I wasn't! It's been a whole bunch of fun, and I was wondering what userscripts you folks use to make your leet computering mad hax. Thus, this thread.

For those of you who don't know, "Greasemonkey is a Mozilla Firefox extension that allows users to install scripts that make on-the-fly changes to HTML web page content on the DOMContentLoaded event, which happens immediately after it is loaded in the browser (also known as augmented browsing)." That's what wikipedia has to say on the subject, anyway. In practical terms, scripts go in, awesome comes out. With user-created scripts, you can get rid of annoying ads, download streamed videos, cheat terribly at most any browser game, and enjoy a myriad of other fun applications.

To download Greasemonkey, go here:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/greasemonkey/

These are the userscripts I currently use:

YousableTubeFix: a very handy thing. YousableTube lets you download youtube videos and adjust the size of the video, while increasing the default size and removing those awful video ads.

Videoembed: this has been very handy lurking in the Pointless Thread. Instead of having to click on a link to watch a video, the video is automatically embedded beneath the link. No more having your video experience ruined by youtube comments.

UnfriendFinder: while I've sort of lost interest in Facebook of late, this is still a handy thing. It takes the futile guessing out of finding out why your friend count's gone down.

TinyURL Decoder: turning random gibberish into a readable URL.

Textarea Backup: You'll never have to go on a killing rampage again. Saves your text so that navigating away from a page or exiting out won't erase it.

NoDelay: Don't like having to wait a short period of time to download those files you didn't pay for? Look no further. Removes the delay upload sites put up to reach the download link.

Linkify Ting: Turns any plain text written out like a URL (like questionablecontent.net) into a clickable link.

I think it's because your 'age' is really only determined by how exasperated you seem when you have to stand up.

I think someone brought up the program for QC Zombies like two years ago, I remember it working really well actually.

Another good one I found:

Better Loopy for Youtube: Lets you put Youtube videos on auto-repeat. Also lets you loop only specific parts of the video, and has a "next videos" feature I haven't quite figured out yet.

And another one!

Drag to Resize: Does exactly what it says on the tin. Lets your resize most images just by dragging them. Right-clicking restores them to their original size, by the way.

Three more.

BookInfoLine: Creates a drop-down menu whenever you find a book on any number of popular retail sites, giving you the price of the same book at a selection of other sites.

Google Account Multi-Login: Just what it says on the tin. lets you toggle between accounts on gmail, rather than needing to log-out and then log-in.
https://www.userscripts.org/scripts/show/16341

LookItUp2: Allows you to quickly look something up in a number of different sites by highlighting the desired look-up word and pressing a key ('w' for wikipedia, 'g' for google, etc.)
