Looking at the status of the poll, it seems to me that I'm not the only one here whos favorite character is Hanners.

It was Faye in the past but she turned out to be too slutty. I'm not that conservative that I would judge her, but I'm conservative enough that I'm definitely turned off by such a behavior.

Dammit I again write about fictional characters as if they would be real.

Nope.

I specified no reason for my statement.

So you just made one up on your own. Which is wrong, by the way.

And besides, just because I'm not attracted to, say, black women, that doesnt mean I'm a racist. I'm just not attracted to black women. Its my perfect right to have preferences when it comes to partnership choices, just like everyone else.

Likewise I am free to be turned on and turned off by certain behavior patterns.

Also, I never called her slut. I said "too slutty". Mostly because I'm too tired to think about a better word for it.

Who would win a fight on Volcano Island, Hannermom or Steve?
Beatrice (Hannermom, to you), naturally. Old age and treachery, plus she probably has those rules Border Reiver gets his sig from memorized backwards and forwards.

Does "Beatrice" really sound evil enough to be the right name to use? She prefers "Ms. Chatham" anyway, cf. strip 915.

Aha!  I don't know quite where I got the idea that she was, but thank you for linking to proof that Hanners grew in a womb rather than a tube.  ^_^

Also, I have to commend Angus for starting this particular conversation while Faye was cleaning the broadsword!

(Btw, has anyone seen Sven in the last few minutes?)

Reading the comic via scroll, at first I assumed the squeeing was a result of the myriad of QC fangirl screams substantiating into the very fabric of the comic.

Also, congrats to Angus on not picking the ever-popular 'Jam It In!' option.

She said yes.  In the most asinine way possible.  Basically, she's taking it slow after Sven, so no Faye Whitaker Airport landing clearance for Angus, he'll have to circle until either the weather clears or he runs out of fuel and crashes in a flaming heap of heartache and regret.  Oh, and blue balls, let's not forget the blue balls.

Err, I think you interpret my "I dont judge her" much too literally. I dont think any human being can be that free of judgement in the first place.

For we human beings judge all the time. This flower is beautiful and that one is ugly. This voice is nice and that one is nasty. I like this food and I hate that other food.

Same for people, this one is beautiful and that one isnt. This one is nice and that one really gets on my nerves.

So "I dont judge her" simply means: I dont APPROVE of her, but I TOLERATE her. Its her life, after all. Virtual, fictional life, of course.

Faye's not the only one. Dora's in a different outfit too, so I think it must be the next day. I don't quite believe in the neckline of Faye's tank-top in profile compared with the front view, but it's very cool that Jeph bothers to draw her collar-bone bump.

Regarding a specific person or sequence of events? You are assuredly wrong.
It might be impossible to live an entire life without being judgemental of someone (and indeed the attempt may be entirely unhealthy) but it is certainly possible to fail to judge individuals.

I just wanted to say... the art looks really great lately. I just noticed that the hair has started looking differently for the last few strips, and I really like this change. I know it's been said many times before but it's nothing short of amazing how the art never stops developing and advancing. I am impressed with how Jeph manages to make his characters look better and better constantly. GREAT job.

So you just made one up on your own. Which is wrong, by the way.

Well since you didn't give a reasoning for your statement, I am left to hypothesize at your reasons, and generally the word slutty is used to characterize someone being a slut, and I just dont think Faye fits the bill at all based on the content provided.  I don't think its a fair categorization and that was the only possible explanation I could think of that one would call her that.

I also didn't say you weren't allowed to not be attracted to slutty or black or whatever sort of girls you aren't interested in. I don't care what you are or are not turned off by, I said nothing about it, so I don't see why you feel the need to defend your attractions.

How is having sex with ONE person "promiscuous" in the slightest? As far as we know Sven is the only person Faye has had sex with during the entire course of the series. I would hardly call that "slutty"

If Faye's a slut, then pretty much the only person who's not a slut in QC is Hannelore.  And yes, I'm including Marigold, that harlot.

Edit:  Wait, I forgot Hannelore's Mr. Clean fantasy.  She's just as bad as the rest of `em!

Do I really wanna look up what "OTP" means on UrbanDictionary.com?

Also, it's very nice of Angus to be willing to put on hold any evolution of his relationship with Faye in order to protect Marigold's feelings. Made me go all "awwwwww".

I very much agree with this.  ^_^  I mean, Angus and Faye should probably take things slow starting off anyway, but I like that he's taking Marigold's feelings into consideration, and that Faye seems to agree.  MAJOR props to Angus for broaching the serious conversation with Faye while she's cleaning the sword!  And yay for the return of Faye's blush -- good thing Dora didn't snuggle her from behind, or Faye's head might have exploded.

Oh, and jwhouk, OTP = one true pairing, as in "these two characters are totally meant to be together forever, you guys, omigod!"

Edited because I hate typos.  -_-

Actually, I would posit that purple elephants do not contribute to the ruination of everything forever in any way.

She should get herself sequenced and go through it looking for errors one base pair at a time.

But what's she going to compare it to?

One option would be to count all the noncoding triplets and other anomalies and do a statistical analysis to compare the rate to the human average.

Another would be to take samples from both parents and make sure she is a first generation copy.

Does that sound like our Hannelore, though? The Hanneresque approach would be panic over every thymine dimer, incomplete protein coding, nonfunctional protein codiing, and incorporated retrovirus.

I don't like it when characters manage to lame their way into a relationship.  One of the many reasons I can't watch sitcoms.

It was Faye in the past but she turned out to be too slutty. I'm not that conservative that I would judge her, but I'm conservative enough that I'm definitely turned off by such a behavior.
How is it possible to apply the fairly negative term "slutty" to anyone without judging them?
I am free to be turned on and turned off by certain behavior patterns.
Certainly. But I don't see how you can do it without judging.

Bullshit. "I don't judge her" means that you don't judge her. YOU have judged her, but you usually don't let your hate-dick out of your pants. Shut up and go away, hide behind a thin veil of lies about the semantics of your slut-shaming elsewhere.
