So long as she remembers to twist the blade prior to trying to pull it out she should be able to avoid having the it stick.

That and avoid the rib cage.

This has probably been mentioned but YEAH! Angus has undergone some stefan urquelle makeover since these days: http://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=898

Keep in mind he was wearing those clothes purely so that Faye would make fun of him as we see in the comics that follow.
I do miss his glasses though; I kept imagining Faye and Angus going in for an impromptu kiss and bumping glasses awkward-style.

Less worried, actually.  If she knew how to use a knife then she'd actually be holding it correctly when she answered the door.

He's always been "the dumpy guy in glasses who always comes in here". His look has changed, though (check out those sideburns!) and he's always had something for Faye.

I don't thnk that first guy was Angus.  He really didn't seem pleased with the sass, and he seemed like an older guy who was actually used to service.  Same hair color is about all.  I'd believe it if he muttered something like, "Christ, why do I keep coming here?" as he stalked away.

The second one, maybe.  Same glasses.  Seems more like Jeph adopted a crowd member into the cast!

Then suddenly - bushy sideburns, argyle sweater, argumentative - ya think he's got some Scottish name orrrr something, laddie?

Stereotyping - interfering with character development since Homo Sapiens first met a Neanderthal!

Hmm, I think the potential creepiness in panel one stems from the fact that Hanners' knife is pointed outward toward Marten's general crotchal region.  But she doesn't have her stabby-face on, so she's non-threatening.  I had forgotten all about DJ Phalliz -- thanks for the reminder, Akima!

I'm looking forward to seeing Winslow as master of ceremonies over bad YouTube night.  He's one of the few characters who still retains some innocence.  Although having said that, I wonder if the "bad YouTube" featured will include all or part of the Star Wars Holiday Special . . .  Seriously, watching that whole thing is like a rite of passage, or maybe one of the circles of hell.

The thing that troubles me is this: who answers their door knife in hand? Obviously, Hanners was about to sacrifice open the melon when Marten rang, knocked, or what-have-you. Normal behavior would be to sigh, put down the knife, and then go to the door.

Of course, I was taught as a child (nevermind how) not to walk around with sharp objects in my hand. Perhaps, in space, no one cares what you puncture.

Since Marigirl is invited, why not use Momo-tan, who has holographic projection equipment built in?
They don't know she's coming. Note Marten made sure Hannelore was coming before he made his request. Awfully polite fellow, that Marten. Doesn't say 'Hello, Hanners, how are you, and why have you got a knife in your hand, for the love of god, don't stab me, think of Dora—she'd really fuck you up if you did that, you know. I heard that Vespavenger chick still doesn't walk right."

Maybe its me, but when carrying a knife I either carry it point down, edge facing back or in the sheath.

Anyway, somehow Hanners with a knife, even an 8-10" chopping knife (which is what she appears to have here) doesn't scare me.

I think that's called a Joab Special. (Smiting under the fifth rib.) Or perhaps it should be.
http://bible.cc/2_samuel/20-10.htm , http://bible.cc/2_samuel/3-27.htm,  and more, but I can't recall them.

To quote David (according to Joseph Heller) "Joab sure does love that fifth rib, doesn't he?" (God Knows)

Well there are only three options - Left, Right and About.  Anything else is either an Incline or a Wheel.
On the contrary, there are bad, strange, unseemly, unsavory, disturbing and delightful turns, just to name a few. Offhand, I'd say the thread has taken a mildly bloodthirsty turn, with overtones of whimsy. That's to be expected when Hanners starts playing with cutlery, and even more so when Jeph gives us onomatopoeia to accompany it.

Runch! Squealch Melon falls open.
Marten: "Hey, that melon looks pretty good!"
Marten reaches out to snag a protruding chunk
Runch! Squealch Marten looks down to see knife hilt protruding beneath his fifth rib
Hannelore (disturbing smile plastered across her face): "No one touches my melon."

I think its early spring, what with how things are now-a-days it isnt too far-fetched to be able to buy a watermelon out of season.

It's either that, or training for the zombie apocalypse.

Hanners possesses a distinct River Tam quality. She'd probably be good to have around if your ship gets attacked by Reavers.

I actually had this happen before my eyes when I was in tenth grade. The girl was leaning over talking to me before class started when her support system gave up due to considerable stress. I didn't think* of either a cool line like "Oh, no, the Levee broke," or one more accurately reflecting my reaction like this one. Which is probably just as well.

*Actually, for honesty's sake a period should be applied here.

This would be much funnier in the plural, but then I'm a dirty old man.

And as for Marigold, I can understand the embarassment, but I don't think that narrow chested Angus' sweater is going to cover up the problem....

This would be much funnier in the plural, but then I'm a dirty old man.

And as for Marigold, I can understand the embarrassment, but I don't think that narrow chested Angus' sweater is going to cover up the problem....

You're not old, you're, um, "time challenged"  8-). And I now suspect this is in fact a plot by Marigold to get his clothes off . Next will be his shoes, supposedly for his laces.

Damnit. Now I'm wishing I had gotten two cantaloupes at the store yesterday.

Dontcha just hate it when your bra straps break? Both of them? Simultaneously?

The picture on the wall in panel 1 looks like Daria.
Could be Marigold.
It probably is :P Of course, Marigold might be Daria's long-lost cousin.
It looks like Harry Potter.

That's the point - the sweater's for support!

Not sure how much support she's gonna get from trying to put on a sweater that appears to be at least 2 sizes too small (angus looks like what a 36, maybe a 38, and I'm certain that Marigold's chest is at least that size before you take into consideration that which prevents us from noticing her eyes.

Naturally, I considered the plural, but I'm trying not to be. And failing, probably. Besides, melons would be an exaggeration…I mean, Hannelore can count.

We're getting into the summer season and as schools and colleges let out, may of the usual suspects are spending more time AFK.

So, on Tuesday panel 3 we have Faye revelling in her well-supported cleavage.

Today, Marigold is suffering from severe saggage in that region.

Soon, they will be in a room together.

Anyone else think we are being set up for some Dramatic Conflict in the form of breast one-upmanship?
