Coming to a town near you
« on: 03 Jun 2010, 18:56 »

My girlfriend and I are going to be in Toronto attending the FanExpo the 27th of August to the 29th, and we want to make a weekend of it.  One problem, we don't know the area or anything going on at that time.  Any suggestions?

We're up for pretty much anything.  All we have right now is FanExpo and then we want to see the Terracotta Soldiers

Visiting Australian forumites is also not something one should do with their girlfriend.

Well, seeing as most of the australian forumites are in relationships anyway, it wouldn't be that much of an issue.

I mean, unless you just wanted to hook up with a complete stranger from here, but I don't know how successful that would be; the people who would be up for it may not be the people you want to hook up with.

Back to the topic at hand, I need some cool things to do in Toronto.  We've already added seeing the CN Tower

There are some cool places to go - The Distillery district has a bunch of galleries and great restaurants. Queen Street W has really good shopping. Kensington Market is always fun on a Saturday. You can go to the Art Gallery of Ontario or the Royal Ontario Museum. There's a street festival going on at Yonge and Dundas Square that weekend. You can pick up a local weekly for concert/theatre/comedy listings - usually there is pretty cool stuff going on.

If you like historical stuff, try Casa Loma or the St. Lawrence Market (which also has the draw of delicious food). Hockey Hall of Fame, if that is your thing.

Lastly, the Canadian National Exhibition will be on at Exhibition Place. It is actually a lot of fun, sometimes they have good bands. There are animal shows and the agricultural centre and rides and games and lots and lots of food.

For some reason I had a dream that I was in Toronto last night.

I'm not though.
