I can tell you, for sure, that the two people in the background of panel 1 are supposed to be Dave and Helen from Shaenon Garrity's Narbonic:
http://www.narbonic.com/ Which is a funny strip about a mad scientist (Helen Narbon), though it ended it 2006 and Shaenon is doing other things now.
As to the other strips, I dunno. I think he's drawn himself
as himself before, just not really in QC-land. If I think of an instance contradicting this, I'll find and post it.
