Until I saw the Gendo posters, I was thinking Dale really needed Sven's cat right then. Because nothing says plotting like stroking a white cat. Just ask all the dudes that have played Ernst Blofield. Well, those that aren't dead, anyway.

Yes!  Then Marigold would be Bond, Momo would be Q, and Hannelore could be Pussy Galore!

OK, I'm obviously culturally deprived.  What's that "She has... potential" quote and shiny eyes/glasses stuff from?

What is? That stick thing?

According to Google "This one has potential" doesn't seem to be any kind of famous quote or meme.

Also, congratulations to Carl-E on the occasion of achieving a kilopost on the forums!

It dimly reminds me of the comments of Darth Vader when he engaged Luke Skywalker in battle for the first time, at the end of the original Star Wars movie, later called "A new Hope".

But it was not "This one has potential", more like "The force is strong in this one" or some such.

Sorry, did you just call it the original Star Trek movie? I am disgusted.

But yeah he did say "The force is strong with this one" when he was tailing Luke on the Death Star.

First things first, Marigold was simply doing something completely in-character yesterday: tallying up what she's actually accomplished (or, as a WOW'er would probably say, checking out your stats).

Look: she celebrated with a happy dance when she got the rest of her armor; why wouldn't she be happy when she realizes, "hey, I kissed a boy (and I liked it!), and he touched my boob!"?

And as for today... you know, she never did ask Dale what HIS main's name was. Hubris, and all that.

It's amazing.  The Angels are all completely redesigned in CGI, and it looks absolutely beautiful.  They were also able to make the characters themselves more redeemable; Asuka's not nearly the bitch she was in the original series, and Shinji looks to actually have a pair.  The new pilot, Mari, is all sorts of awesome.  The only real criticism I've heard is the choice of music during two particular scenes.  But if you have a chance to torrent the HD version, it's worth it.

Man, I am liking Dale more and more.  ^_^  And is that a . . . LARP sword behind him on the right?
Looks like a bamboo practice sword used in Kendo. Definitely not LARP material. Those things can be used as lethal weapons, practice sword or not.

Aha -- I don't LARP or do any martial arts, so I wasn't sure.  Thank you to AngryCallCenterAgent for the clarification -- it does indeed seem to be a Shinai: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shinai

GAH! YOU BEAT ME TO IT!

But then, it was all foretold in the dead sea scrolls anyway. Shoulda seen it coming. XD

The dead sea scrolls told of red x's?  Damn, I guess you do learn something new every day!   :-D

I'm not shipping Marigold and Dale -- in part because the second I root for two characters in anything to get together they won't, but also because I can't tell yet how much they'd have in common beyond WoW and anime (given what's on their walls) -- BUT I do think it would be awesome and fun if they did get together eventually.  The nemeses vibe between them now is cool enough though, Kill Bill theme and all.  And now, randomly, I want to see Momo do the Dramatic Prairie Dog turn-and-stare.

Question: Is the character in the poster on Dale's wall the same one that Marigold showed her hairstylist to get her current haircut?

Ohnorobot seems to have left a number of comics untranscribed.  Or people haven't submitted transcriptions, I'm not entirely sure how the service works.

Oh man, I had to break my personal rule of never searching the phrase "Fidel Castro pube-beard" on the Internet, and it was all for nothing.

Also, can someone link me to these pictures of people who look like Jeph's mental images people are talking about?

It's a good thing the stylist didn't know who that was. I don't think Marigold would look good with hair that long.

And now that I look at it, that IS Haruhi on the wall behind Dale. Interesting...

Probably not.  most gay women aren't into watching hetero sex.

Of course, I could be wrong, not being a lesbian myself.  But I do live with a few, and know several others.  Among those I know, the thought of hetero sex triggers the "squick" reaction!

Does today's strip count as a fart joke, a toilet joke, or a coitus interruptus joke? All class, all the way in any event. I think Tai's been living in dorms too long, and what's going to happen when she flushes? More screaming from the other side of the curtain, that's what.

Considering Tai's had designs on Dora, seeing her in mid-coitus with her underling would be...

Trauma doesn't quite capture the full scope of it.

And another awkward moment enters the books. I think at this moment Tai is glad the curtains closed.
Does today's strip count as a fart joke, a toilet joke, or a coitus interruptus joke? All class, all the way in any event. I think Tai's been living in dorms too long, and what's going to happen when she flushes? More screaming from the other side of the curtain, that's what.
It's a triple score, for sure. And flushing's okay, so long as it doesn't do what it did in my dorm. We wrote lyrics about it:
(Sing to the Sons Of The Pioneers' "Cool Water")
Hey there, man, don't you flush that can
'Cause it takes away cold water from my shower.
Shower Shower!
Warm, clean shower
Shower Shower!

If the weather turns cold, the pipes might burst
So I hope I'm the one who gets there first
To shower

Well, you get the idea. And yes, as you can see, we didn't get much studying done. Also, our dorm was decrepit.

I'll add I, too, am glad the fart didn't stimulate Marten. Just because.

You'd be surprised. Though I don't go to conventions myself. I guess that make me sane?
Who wants to be sane in this mad world ? It would drive you crazy. *manic laughter* SCNR

I don't think "glad" is the word so much as "cursing the gods above"...
Did you somehow manage to miss the part of Tai being completely gay ? She's be all "eww naked man eww".

Sorry, I didn't mean to be a troll.

It's mostly that I meant to point out how this comic really doesn't make sense.

The problem is that I've criticized the comic in the past, often with the only defense being: "It's Jeph's comic, he can do what he wants!"

I'm sorry for being so strong on the defensive, but I'm sure it's understandable given the culture of this site.

Hang on, hasn't Tai frequently commented on how punctual Marten is?

I've found one example but I remember there being a lot more.

logically, shouldn't that reaction be canceled out by her being all "yay naked woman yay" thus creating a completely neutral reaction?

Also, if "Marten's late because he's having sex with Dora, Dumass," then this comic is rendered completely stupid.

If the comic did make sense, then it would require Tai to happen to fart every morning Marten works, causing Marten to lose his boner while having shower sex.
