Black hair with a white steak

That reminds me of Nightshade[1] or Chelsea[2].  Who were you thinking of?

Rogue has brown hair, developing the white streak only after she drained the powers from Carole Danvers.

I suspect that claire's "diagnosis" is something that even Pen can accept, being that it's based on observation.  My first thought though was"Why was she carrying taht with her?"

She's a dog breeder. She probably keeps that stuff in her purse in case one of her grand champions takes a flier into the nearest mud puddle.

Black hair with a white steak

I like the typo better.  A white steak through the heart should cure her... regardless of the diagnosis!

And yes, I know it's stake.  Give the homey-nym a break.

And Akima, thanks for the new term... My dad used to call the little metal boxes he put over the power tool switches in his shop "lightning guards".  People thought he was nuts... how's a metal box going to protect a switch from lightning?

His nickname for me as a kid was lightning.  The only thing I did quickly was eat...

I don't know.

But 1734 is a somewhat obscure tradition of traditional witchcraft.

So its about 60 years old this tradition?  Wicca being about that old and all, and other concepts of "witchcraft" generally being made up (well the European stuff anyways, shamanism is a completely different animal).

Faye and Penn would make an interesting bandit duo - one could imagine them distracting the victims easily enough.

I can't take credit for molly-guard; it's a common term in the computer industry. Crypto-flaxen conspiracy, on the other hand, positively rolls off the tongue! Even though Dora is the only crypto-blonde at CoD, so it must be a very small conspiracy.

Edit: And I wonder if Dora's considered putting on cage-fights in the basement...

Battle maidens at 20 paces -- I like it.   :-D  And wow, both Hanners and Cosette are going to work at CoD.  That could be a wonderment in slapstick.

I like the new haircolor on Cosette.  No telling if that's closer to her original haircolor (I was gonna guess ginger), but it looks nice.  Hopefully she won't go the extra step of getting her hair cut like Steve's so they can look more similar a la Dora and Marten.

So, Dora goes from not hiring friends to hiring nearly everyone she knows. Interesting.

Whaddya mean? Penelope, Hanners, and Dora, if she'd go to her natural color—nothing but blondes, now that Raven is gone. Not that this would matter, as it's long been obvious Faye has a low tolerance for many, many things.

Penelope and Hanners. Dora is a purplette (like brunette). Which leaves Faye as a brunette. I wonder what Cosette's natural colour is.

Cosette is a brown, I'd think. That reddish-ness is probably from all the henna that she dumped into her hair.

Penelope and Hanners [are blondes]*. Dora is a purplette (like brunette). Which leaves Faye as a brunette. I wonder what Cosette's natural colour is.
A blonde covered by purple is a blonde still; she's simply waiting to spring out when you least expect it.

Hell, maybe Faye has a point.

Did I miss Cosette moving in with Steve, or is he just wandering into dorm showers?

And am I the only one who thinks she looks utterly vacant here, especially in panel 3?
From what I recall of dorm, showers, male ones, mind, had I an SO with her own place, I'd use it when possible, especially if I was performing a task like dyeing my hair.
And yes, you are. What she looks is damned attractive, moreso than Jeph's ever drawn her—for a girl who's not real, of course, Harumph.

Well that explains why she is wearing a towel in the first place. I wonder if Steve has his own key to the place or a dorm-mate let him in and told her where she was. From what I experienced, dorm keys are usually special and expensive.

I think Raoullefere is saying that Cosette is using Steve's bathroom rather than the dorm.

As for Steve getting into a dorm, dorm security is notably lax.  If you look even a little like a student (or not, I'm late 40's), someone leaving the dorm will be polite and hold the door for you so you don't have to fumble around for your key card.  College students typically have no sense of danger (which explains a LOT of stupid things that happen at college).

And it's why, in her first semester at school, one of my daughters was robbed and beaten at gunpoint in her dorm room.  By another student.  Who was never caught.

And every time after that, when I went to get her at the dorm, some idiot would still hold the outer door open for me.  No questions, no ID, nothing.  I frequently read the riot act to them.

There's no such thing as foolproof security when you're trying to secure a building full of fools.

I got my coat with my dorm key in it stolen. well the key doesn't have a lot of info on it they won't know which dorm it might open. And of course we have dorm security patrolling the area regularly that will complain if we left a window open at night on the first floor. But there was a laptop stolen before in our dorm. And some youngsters broken into our kitchen to smash the fire alert.

I know from a girl in my hall that she went with a small towel covering only her lower half to the shower once at her boyfriend's dorm.

Considering that Smith College is an all-girls school, I think someone might notice it if Steve walked into the dorm.

And besides, it's summertime - which means Cosette probably moved in with Steve in the interim.

College students at least have the excuse (unless they went to boarding-school) that they're probably having their first experience of communal living. In my experience the "look like you belong there and you'll get in" principle applies in most environments and across all age-groups. Tailgating is a big problem in just about any communal secure environment, and it is so tempting to do it, especially when carrying something in both hands.

Applies to computer-system security too. Don't get me started. But isn't it nice to know that you look so harmless? :)

There's no such thing as foolproof security when you're trying to secure a building full of fools.
Have you tried welding the fuckers in?

Or did you need people to be able to use the building as well?

Applies to computer-system security too. Don't get me started.
Argh. I just got done trying to run a tiny network of like twenty systems. But wouldn't you know it? There's always one.

There was something on Cosette's Twitter feed about telling her parents she was still in classes, or something similar? Maybe she was covering up moving in with Steve.

Hanners's last line in today's strip is WIN. Even though the context isn't quite the same, I'm reminded of Homer Simpson's mantra: "Leave your ass, Homer! Leave your ass!"

Well there have been a couple indicators that they don't exactly open at the crack of dawn. All those late night happenings, Marten being late for work because of Dora sexing, the Great Veiling Entry, etc. I guess they're just open for lunch and afternoon traffic or something.

Dora is a purplette (like brunette).
I'm too lazy to look it up, but Dora explicitly said she is a blonde just like her brother.

Bianci is even a name for blondes in Italy or something.

Hanners breaks a new personal cuteness record today, especially in panel two.

It seems she got the hang of non-creepy smiling.
