Dora's flute?
« on: 08 Sep 2010, 18:25 »

The twitter feed says Dora's flute is backwards and he'll fix it later. What the heck is he talking about?

He put a print for SPX on his tumblr page. Dora is playing a flute and holding it backwards.

The European flute is normally built so that the main length of the tube extends to the right from the player's mouth, but left-handed flutes have been built in the past.

Is that what that is?

I must admit I had no idea what one actually looks like!

It is indeed a theremin. The shape of the box in the middle that holds the electronics isn't very relevant. It's the two antennae that are crucial. There are lots of theremin videos on YouTube; this is one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mW0B1sipLBI
