Seven years ago, the congregation of Our Lady of the Annunciation in Queensbury, NY (RC Diocese of Albany) got a new organ. 300 donors and more helped pay for it, and it was built by the organist, who didn't charge for his labour:
Yesterday, the pastor bought a keyboard and put the organ in a skip,
literally:At least one other church wanted it; even the scrap value of the lead and tin in the pipes would be considerable. And what do the donors think? I suppose there has to be a story behind vandalism on this scale, but it hasn't emerged yet. Story
here.
