I miss my kitty. She is living with my mum and all spoilt and fat. I liked her better when she had to try and get her own food.

Do you have to pay a pet deposit for one of those?

Also, this is Mo. And I'm sorry I titled this thread badly and made people sad.

... Boy, did I ever .... Crib, carseat, playpen ... Unlike the days of yore, dropping baby into a dresser drawer is NOT a good idea, even though it makes for a cute picture!

SirJuggles, I am very sorry about your dog but I think it will help us all to move through the grieving process that much easier if you'd post some more pictures of your sister.

Thanks in advance.

In this video, Tammy takes a walk.

This is the dialog that went through my head when I watched this:

"Hey Tammy, whatcha doin'?"
"Walkin."
"Mind if I join?"
"Ok su...OH SHIT WHAT IS THAT?!"
"It's just my camera. Can I tape our walk?"
"No."
"Please?"
"...No."
"Oh do come out."
"I...I don't like this."
"Please?"
"Oh...ok. But I still don't like this. Um. I'm going this way. You...you go the other way, ok?"

My mum pretty much treats Akaya as her own child since I left for uni. She is an extremely dopey dog.

Here she is with my second nephew when she was a pup.

And here she is with the same nephew a little while on.

Her only bad habit is going after birds. Her current kill count is three pigeons and a pheasant.

I have a hamster named Red. He gets excited when you walk into the room.

He is also the fattest hamster. He likes to use his wheel as a seat instead of a wheel.

He used to have a brother named Blue, too. But it turns out that adult hamsters fight, even if they're from the same litter.  :-(

Actually I'm pretty sure all grey and white cats look basically the same. The key to identification lies in tiny details - in Hedda's case, her white upper lip and her ENORMOUS eyes. On the street where I used to live there was a cat which was almost identical to Hedda, and Hedda used to pick fights with it all the time and that was really confusing. I dubbed it Doppelcat.

This is Wembley! He is named after this little fella.

this is the first picture i ever took of him. we're coming home from the house of the people who found him; he was in the pound in the meantime

i think he looks like Bagheera from the Jungle Book here:

he was just a widdle bb kitten and they were going to put him to sleep!

now we love each other and he sleeps on/near me every night i sleep at home. he is good at spooning.

when i stay at my boyfriend's, i see two kitties!
Clover, who is diabetic

and Ashley, who was also a found kitten.

(plus bonus boyfriend)

when i go home to my mom's, i hang with Jack

he's a farm dog! he helps with chores and the kitties all love him. speaking of...
this one is my favorite barn kitty:

with bonus moos. only a few of the cows could be considered pets... the calves, yearlings, and number 16 are all really sweet and like being petted. they have horses too but i don't have any good pictures of them (they are all big and strong and really nice looking though)
and scooby, the crabby 14 year old maltese. imagine the oldest man you know, all wrinkly and full of age spots, make him all "get off my lawn" and that is the person version of Scooby. He just kinda lies around.

my dad has a clumber spaniel (which is the most accurately named type of dog ever) named Thunder

he doesn't like me though.

That is a beautiful dog.
And there are so many cute cats in this thread already!

I just got back from thanksgiving break and I tried to get some pics of my cat, Max, but he's mostly become accustomed to cameras, so they no longer interest him and he runs away.
So, some older (cameraphone) pics:

this one's my cell phone background

He's got some kidney disease right now, but he's been on medicine for about a year and he's getting better.  I love him very much, and my mom says whenever I go away for college he stays in my room and meows incessantly for a week

my roomates and I just tried to adopt an adorable little kitty with two different-colored eyes but they denied us because the "humane" society is just a front for cat-eating aliens: they pretend to want to give them to people but then they make you fill out a ridiculous application and pay money only so they can ultimately deny your request and enjoy all the delicious kittens for themselves.

fucking assholes, you're just going to kill it anyway! Give it me so I can feed it and love it and it won't die immediately!

That is one of the things I really hate about some shelters. I don't want to pay like $250 to get a dog, I already have to pay money to buy stuff so that my house can accomodate the dog, don't make me also pay you money for me to keep this dog from dying.

I think most shelters probably charge more for kittens and puppies than they do for older dogs, just to try to encourage people to adopt an older animal which isn't as cute and as immediately appealing as a kitten or a puppy. When I adopted Hedda she was about 8 months old, which is still very young but no longer a kitten. When I arrived at the shelter on the day I got her there was a queue of cars full of people waiting for them to open up, and literally everybody - including me - rushed straight to the kitten room. I didn't see any kittens I particularly liked so I took a punt on the older cats and found Hedda pretty much instantly. Adoption prices at the shelter I got her from are A$80 for a kitten but only A$65 for an older cat, and that includes desexing, microchipping, worming, defleaing and vaccinations.

Plus, do you guys have any idea how many animals animal shelters have to deal with, especially in a city? The shelter I got Hedda from deals with around 16,000 cats a year. 16,000 a year. Just think about that. You can't deal with that many animals on love and kindness alone, it costs money.
