Favorite Tub Ring Album?
« on: 02 Dec 2010, 12:24 »

What's your favorite Tub Ring album? Why?

A lot of people disagree with me, but I have to go with The Great Filter. It might just be because it's the album that introduced me to them, but I also feel that the pacing of the album flows a lot smoother than in other albums, particularly Zoo Hypothesis which turned out to be my least favorite (And when I say least favorite, I mean I still love it, just not quite as much). Another thing people like to say about The Great Filter is that they "went soft" on that album, which I think is a stupid thing to say, especially when you have songs like "Get Help (NOW!)" and "Killers In Love."

So, what's yours?

at first I saw the guys and their setup and I thought "oh fuck this is gonna suck" but that 'bite the wax tadpole' song is actually pretty fun. they could all use a haircut though.

if you're interested in dance punkish music with experimental electronic elements and little tiny bit of metal, you should listen to The Mean Reds instead because they were one of the greatest bands to ever live. RIP

fake edit: okay, "tiny, little" is pretty awesome too. I think I might actually like this band. Need more data first obviously, but I'm pleasantly surprised

Everybody watch Bite the Wax Tadpole.  The keyboardist is absolutely awesome.  At one point he jumps up and starts humping the keyboard.  He's so into it; the most enthusiastic keyboardist I've seen, he even comes in in front of Marilyn Manson's live keyboardist.

That would be Rob Kleiner, really really awsome guy. He's also in Super 8-Bit Brothers, and just recently released a solo album for free (Which you can get at his site if you so desire). :D

Any suggestions for bass/guitar player?

John Congleton of The Paper Chase

That band would have too much energy for its own good. @_@

Sean, have you considered just not posting if you have not heard of the band?

you know, in retrospect, that probably would have been a better idea.

i am too easily irritable i should probably do something about that.

I thought this thread was gonna be about albums that sit in your cd player or on your turntable for so long that when you change them you get this ring of dust and grime and shit and you're all "eww".
