I came up with that one night, along with Yoloween. I am not a proud creature.

I'm pretty sure Mardi Gras is as fast as they possibly can filing trademark names on 'yoloween"

Show tonight at The Bowery Electric. Ugh, both of us have been sick for so long I can't remember when we were well. Kind of nervous because I may have work people coming and they are just used to seeing me wear an apron and memorizing the PLU's for organic produce. Juxtafucked. Also Lummer,  YOLOCAUST= genius. Do it or get scooped. Don't be a Yolocaust denier.
My left wrist bone is healed but I do not have the range of motion to do a lot of things. Playing guitar isn't one of those. So it will be lack of practice kneeing me in the groin tonight not distal radial fracture. My schedule suxxx00rz. Sleeping has been hard to pull off effectively.

Meh, nobody came out. Another live band practice. Thanks Patrick. After these weeks of playing with a fucked up wrist I'm happy to be sans a cast/brace. Right now the wife is splayed out on the floor. She's been puking and such all day due to some food poisoning and still thinks we'll play tomorrow night.

YOU SAY HI ME

WE PLAY SIQQQQ JAMZ MAKE WITH GROUPIE LADY BITCHEZ

i live in boston, and i'm trying to start some sort of hipster* band, literally don't care what it is you're interested as long as it's good and you're open minded because i am open minded. i have a hundred ideas and i kinda want to play with ALL OF THEM** in one situation.

let me know if anyone wants to do this in boston/cambridge.

i'm a guitarist, somewhat a singer, MOST IMPORTANTLY looking for a drummer so we can get some sort of a groove figured out, then the rest will fall into place. sweet bros.***

As some of you know, my band The Riveras are on a quest to put out at least one song a month for the next year. Here's our newest single, "Siren Song." We love the way this one came out. Check it-

http://www.reverbnation.com/theriveras/song/16248835-siren-song

We have a stop-motion video in the works that should be pretty incredible as our singer is an artistic genious.

"Another Country" live last night, as iPhoned from sidestage! We put easily over 200 people in that joint, I couldn't believe it. I didn't even have to sing backing vocals, christ. <3

Not gonna lie, I could barely hear anything over the drums in that video. What I could hear sounded really good, but I suppose the sound system isn't really set up for people with cameras from the side.

Is that a gameboy at 1:44?

Well, iPhone + side stage + the only sound system being a vocal PA and amps = bad recorded sound. I keep trying to tell the guy this (he's filmed all our live videos on his iPhone) but he doesn't ever listen because I think he is mildly retarded.

So I've recently joined a band which a sort of hybrid between oldschool Black Metal and melodic Funeral Doom. Mr. Doctor would probably like this!
It's called Eldjudnir, I've already played my first show with them, and yesterday me and the dude who's written and recorded everything so far sat down at his place and pieced this song together:

https://soundcloud.com/eldjudnir/lilleper

95% of the guitars are written and recorded by me. Bass by him. We're both very pleased with it, and look massively forward to recording it for real, and debuting it live!

Thanks guys. Pilchard I never did see what you were talking about at 1:44. Gaz, thanks, I'm pretty proud of that one myself.

Lummer, holy fuck that was so calming to listen to immediately before going to bed. The transition between slow and black metal apeshit was fucking sick.

Lummer- that song is freaking amazing.  It kind of sounds like what woudl happen if Explosions in the Sky decided to play black metal.  Did you guys use Drumkit From Hell to the drum tracking?

Patrick- Really digging the video.  It's drum heavy, but the guitars soudn good.  I'm a little jealous of your dancing crowd.  People don't really dance to The Riveras, for obvious reasons.

It's pretty brilliant. Will there be vocals? (Almost seems a shame to cover those riffs)

Also- my band's new video for "Siren Song" is done! Our singer did all of the artwork and animation. Let me know what you think-

Chad, neat video, my compliments to your singer! (Cool song, too, of course)

Lummer, it's a shame the waveform on Soundcloud was a bit of a spoiler for that awesome transition.

Patrick, I really really need to find out some way to film you guys some day. If only I had a car, or could drive, or wasn't 80 miles away...

Keep trying. She has a flaky internet connection, and so often gets WAY behind on her correspondence. Plus, well... she's a musician... and fits that part of the stereotype far more than she should.

Next time I talk with her, I'll let her know that she should make this happen! BTW, the music video I've been working on with her and Musical Charis is just about done, and we've set a release date of the 10th for it.

Oh yeah, recording I made of another work in progress dump.
I've since added a whole middle section, written a variation on the theme and such, but this'll have to do till I get my mic back.

I guess this is technically a cross post from the other thread I started last week but I forgot this thread existed (shut up it's been like a year since I last posted here).

Anyway I have some demos for my 3rd wave progressive black/doom band, Isgahaatt, that you might dig. The first track is inspired by Raymond E. Feist books and the second is about I think mermaids/sirens. Oh, I'm on vocals bee tee dubs.

[soundcloud]https://soundcloud.com/isgahaatt-1/isgahaatt-a-god-made-flesh[/soundcloud]

[soundcloud]https://soundcloud.com/isgahaatt-1/isgahaatt-withstand-the-tide[/soundcloud]

Any just to further debase myself, we're in a competition to support Cradle of Filth when they tour Australia. If you would be so kind as to vote for us here that would be so cool. For those of you who care about such things, after you've voted you can unlike everything and disable any apps and stuff and your vote will still count. I dunno. You don't have to but I would be so excited to play with Cradle. I'd probably cry from excitement.

If you want, Jimmy, I could point Ray to this track. (I say that like I'm all cool and know him, but it's just that we post in some of the same topics on a writer's forum, and he knows me enough from interactions that I could get his attention.)

So here is a song from the band I joined about a month ago. They've been together for a couple years before I joined and this recording isn't me on bass, but you get the jist. Playing some very old school sounding rock music, which is great fun. They've had problems before with bass players that range from sheer inability to an overabundance of showboating, so with me they've found a perfect happy medium. Anyway we're just getting really tight now set-wise and are booking loads of gigs over the summer, so I am super excited!

If you want, Jimmy, I could point Ray to this track. (I say that like I'm all cool and know him, but it's just that we post in some of the same topics on a writer's forum, and he knows me enough from interactions that I could get his attention.)

That would be...cool as hell! I mean I don't expect that he'd like it but hopefully he'd appreciate the sentiment. It's not about stuff that he wrote specifically but it's very heavily inspired by A Darkness At Sethanon, especially the fall of Armengar and Murmandamus and all that stuff. But now that I think about it, since it's basically about modern earth being overrun by demons etc... It's also heavily inspired by the rest of...everything he's written? At least the Midkemia stuff. Anyway, yeah that would be so cool, thank you!

OK, he listened to it. Based on what you said above, I assured him in my post that it was inspired by, not derived from, which is a very important legal distinction that allows us all to avoid an awkward situation of his publisher sending a lawyer-gram, and that's what he's referring to in the 2nd sentence.

Thanks.  Ya, that kind of would be awkward.  I don't think I quite get
it.  "Doom Metal?"   "Black Metal?"  I'm not even sure what that's
supposed to mean.   Sort of a Metallica thing going there, with some
rifts that remind me of Sabbath.      Mostly, though, reminds me of
Gwarr.

Best, R.E.F.

So like you guessed, not his cuppa, but at least you can tell your mates he's heard it, and the fact that it's out there is in his mental database (and I wouldn't be surprised if he asked his kids what they think about it).

Hah, awesome. That's so cool. Yeah I didn't expect him to like it or anything but at least he doesn't seem to mind?  Thanks so much for showing it to him!

There are some basic rules to remember when cosplaying.
   1. If you're a hot Asian chick you can wear whatever you want and say it's whatever you want. Lingerie and some Pikachu ears are totally a legitimate costume.
   2. Everyone else needs to GTFO.
