That's pretty freaking clever and I can't believe I hadn't thought of it before.

It's the 24th of December and as best as I can tell I'm going to be a lazy shit from now until new year, so time for a little festive thread minery.

Far too new to have posted in the last thread so no accounting to resolutions that I didn't really make.

But resolutions can be a good thing so here goes.

1) Train properly for Paris-Brest-Paris.
2) Make sure I eat properly on every singe long ride without exception.
3) Complete the Bryan Chapman Memorial ride, it will make PBP seem much easier.
4) Get down to a 25 minute 10 mile time trial (and here ends my cycling nonsense)
5) Expand my range of cooking, the current repetoire is getting a bit boring and all of this money spent on kitchen equipment needs to be for more than nothing.
6) Draw that bloody comic man or dear god I will make you suffer.
7) Change the world for the better, even if it's only a little but.

That ought to keep me busy for a moment.

I count that as
Yes
Yes
Yes
No (in fact I didn't even do any time trials at all)
Yes
No (I started but too much freaking out over cycling, moving and money has caused me to be a failure there)
No (Maybe I did, I've campaigned, donated, supported, and helped on stuff through the year, but didn't do anything in the way I imagined for this resolution)

4 out of 7 is pretty shoddy really given that all were achievable. Still, at least I can do better next year.

I've been thinking about this a bit too - and my main one is your #5 from last year for all the same reasons. But first let's look at last year's!

-be the best goddamn au pair in the whole world - erm hmm well I wasn't bad but I left two months early because I was still ill
-learn French/Norwegian/Both - French yes. Norwegian not so much. Poisonous parrot, anyone?
-go to at least two folk festivals - Nope. Not even close. None at all.
-go back to university - Yes! I did this! Wholeheartedly and completely with 100% success so far.
-finish knitting the jumper I started in like 2007 - hahaha I have maybe done three more rows.

So for 2012:

-finish second year
-cook at least one new recipe a fortnight for at least a term (a term is eight weeks - this isn't too much of an ask)
-sort out my vocal chord issues so I can sing louder and better
-either be properly single, or date properly (ie stop having sex and getting emotionally tangled with people who don't want to commit)
-volunteer and donate to charity more

There's this really handy "other thing" I'm going to write as a footnote to my abstract that I can probably explore these issues in. I think I'll call it my "dissertation."

I don't remember my resolutions but I'm pretty sure they were the same as usual and instead of achieving them I moved 3,000 miles and made a bunch of awesome new friends instead, so I'll count that as a victory. Not the victory I intended and all, but fuck it, this is better.

This year I plan on:

Losing my tummy (I've lost somewhere around 100 pounds already)
Taking classes (German, art, and vocal lessons)
Visiting Seattle more often (because fuck, I have so many friends there that I never see)
Oh, and getting a regular job (I really don't have the self-discipline to be a camgirl, I usually fuck off and spend the night playing Warcraft or gameboy emulators instead and tend to make only a little more than rent, and it's not like I  need an awesome job. I could live pretty damn well on about $800-1000/month)

For 2011:
1. Don't drop out of uni.
2. Talk to people.
3. Write something longer than half a word page.
1. fail & restart
2. kinda sorta works
3. occasionally, having a blog helps

I guess general goals at the moment work as resolutions?
1. Don't drop out of uni again.
2. Get RL friends.
3. Don't forget my blog after three months.
4. Seriously, don't drop out of uni again.

My main resolution is have more adventures.

Achieved.

My 2012 resolutions:

Smoke more
Drink more
Become a famous rapper
Get into space
Invent perpetual motion
Maybe do something about university? That seems like an important thing I haven't really been paying much attention to.
