Californication

With the release of its fourth season, I'm curious if anyone on QC follows Hank Moody's sexcapades. Discuss.

Occasionally the sort of pop-culture which was ubiquitous in high school, and which I now manage to avoid without any effort, happens to be mentioned by someone around me, mostly when I'm visiting with my parents and have my fifteen year old sister around. I am usually genuinely surprised that such a thing is still in the popular consciousness, as it is so far removed from my own thinking that it may as well not exist.

Like right now.

David Duchovny is sort of an appealing actor? But this show is terrible. It's almost as bad as Bored to Death.

Of course this is still on. It's guaranteed jigglin' titties week in, week out.

Bored to Death is consistent in its nominative determinism.

I stopped watching after the first season because the entire overarching narrative was completely wrapped up and finished. I mean, why solve all your main character's problems at the end of the first season?

It was an enjoyable first season though.

No sense in discussing the show with people that hate it.

Anyone know if FX's Lights Out is worth watching?

FX is a solid network for scripted drama. Not as ambitious as AMC but far more prolific and more given to genre fare. The reviews I've read say Lights Out is promising.

It used to be just a fun show for me, but I actually quite like where the story is going right now. And the new girl is ridiculously hot.

I think the show is entertaining enough to watch so far, but Karen is just too annoying.

She has a fit every time Hank does something deplorable, yet she goes back to him countless times.

Either accept him for who he is or be done with him for good.  I don't want to watch the same character drama on repeat.  The show has many other better directions to head in.

I can understand why he'd want to remain at the very least friends with Karen, if only for Becca's sake, but I agree, the Hank/Karen scenes are always the weak point of any episode.

So, it's obvious to everyone else that Runkle's the one who knocked up Marcy, right?

Yea; the writers laid it out for the viewers at the hospital when Runkle slit his member.

Yeah, that's what I thought.  I figure Marcy's just in denial and Runkle's either too stupid to see it or smart enough not to push it with Marcy.
