I tend to prefer coffehouses with too many hippies.
It's hit or miss for me...too few hippies can be just as irritating as too many when it comes to coffee houses.
I got a nice one that I go to that's literally 2 doors down from a Starbucks. Run by a friend of a friend of a friend. Neat little place. Live music on occasion. Good mix of people...
They sell coffee (and baked goods, and ice cream in the summer).
...they don't try to be activists like the one down the street one way, nor cater to some clique like the hipster house the other way.
I'm kinda like Marten...if my place ever goes out of business, I'm screwed.
Harder to come by here in the South than where I'm from, though.
That'd be true for most fun things in the South, I'm afraid.
