Remember, America didn't have a "middle ages" like us in Europe.  The reason tourists from over there are so "ooh! aah!" in European cities is that they really haven't  seen stuff that old before.

Yeah, to us "really old stuff" is something from the 1700's. Or, in some places in the Northeast and Southwest, 1600's.

(To my shame, it's only "1800's" in my neck of the woods.)

Oh come on, where I live, it's from before 1200. Of course, their only "rock walls."

Two days, which was nearly three months of comics (same glacial speed as the present development).

Jeph could always replace her with Mysterious Dancing Fairy.

I'd welcome it. A positive-attituded blonde girl with offhanded connections to an evil world-dominating mega PMC?

Heck yes!

Which of the various possibilities for PMC were you referring to?

After taking 5 1/2 hours to make a comic, Jeph's sure going to want to reuse those new backgrounds.

I don't know who they are, exactly, but the whining guy reminds me of a character in CAD, which ruins the entire thing for me (I fucking hate that stupid comic).

I think they're a split of Marten (one looks like Marten, the other acts like Marten), but other than that I can't really tell.

$5 says Hannelore's doppleganger would actually be the fairy girl.

OMG its here :D

first impressions:

a mix of sven and angus in a badass coating
emo steven mixed with will for looks and a dash of marten in that dialog
i see tai's new GF she looks like a mix of tai and faye to me
and the jury is still out on the last one, penelope and hanners mix maybe

whats the last two's origin anyway?  they kinda lack any african features, their more indian looking like morgue girl...whatever her name was again

i wonder if its just their look or intended as having elements of other characters

watching the stream did develop a much higher appriciation of how much work goes into a comic like this, the bakery will be reused but still...
jeph is also very fast at it, is that like short keys for all those functions?  colours bound to keys as well ;o

now i cant wait for monday...goddamnit jeph, you ruined my weekend before it even started :(

Possible. Marten and Steve don't have too many facial characteristics that are easily picked up on, like Dora and Faye.

Either way, I DO want to meet Hannersatz.

I really love the bakery background. It reminds me of Cannon Beach Bakery over in Oregon, which was kind of a summer-vacation fixture for me as a kid.

And Doppelfaye/Giant Blender Girl is awesome. I hope we get to see plenty more of her. Also Doppeldora.

I expect we'll forget the doppelgänger ideas as soon as they get names and start to interact; but it sure feels like a major reboot of QC.

Not quite CAD, though, Odin. He doesn't have the requisite B^U face.

And Jeph - you are definitely getting really good at doing plaids on women.

I've been thinking, and maybe dopplegangers aren't the way to go.  Sure, the Dora/Faye association is obvious, but the other two?  Too much of a stretch.

So here are some different personality archetypes, in order of speaking (at least until we get to know them better)

Grumpy, Mopey, Snarky and Doc.

They could be doppelgangers (has anyone ever noticed what an awesome word that is?), or it might be Jeph making a statement on how everyone goes through the problems the main cast is going through right now. Maybe it's just intended to make Marten feel better about himself. Or drive him insane.

Marten: *grabs the mopey guy by the collar and pulls him close*: GET OUT! Don't fall under her spell! For god's sake, GET OUT WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!! *breaks down sobbing*

And for the record, there's already been a flying cat in the QC-verse.

Nevermind; Marten would have a difficult time pulling Mr. Mopey anywhere. That is a large man.

It's Bizarro Wil pre-"finding himself."  At least, that's my guess.

I saw Steve & Marten and Dora & Tai doppelgangers... That was the first thing I thought and I still think it is like that.

The alt-Dora looks hot, better than the one we are used to.

Jeph managed to get me hungry with all those pastries.

Ok, how many of us are thinking now of "The Bizarro World"?

All right, here's my take:

Guy 1 (brown hair, plaid shirt, looks like an "X" on his neck): "Mirror" version of Steve.
Guy 2 (light brown hair, white shirt, muscular): non-indie-boy "Mirror" version of Marten.
Gal 1 (long hair, in apron): "Mirror" version of Dora.
Gal 2 (short hair, glasses, flannel shirt): "Mirror" version of Faye.

If the bakery sells waffles, then everything has worked out for the best.

Probably only Belgian Waffles. Freshly made. With fruit and marmalade.
