Jodie's USA Adventure 2011
« on: 26 Jan 2011, 00:08 »

So as most of you know, Aaron and I are adventuring to Uh-Merica in mid-July or so for ROLLERCON!  We are going to Soccorro to visit Jordan and Amanda for a bit and then heading to Vegas for me to play the derbies.  Aaron is a bit iffy about driving in America (in any form of populated area anyway) so our original plan of road tripping will only work if Jordan and Amanda come with us (COME ON GUYS I KNOW YOU WANT TO IT WILL BE THE BEST WOO VEGAS AND ROLLER DERBIES) and we can go to the Grand Canyon and I can eat lots and lots and lots of tasty American foods.

BUT

If they can't come (which is not yet decided) we need a back up plan.  So we were going to throw another flight stop in there instead.  I would like it to be a stop where we can see some things, eat lots of things (this is what makes me want to go back to America most.  If I don't find a Crackerbarrel ever again I may die) and hang out with some people!  Like, I woould love to go back to CHicago so I can have that beer I had at Kumars again and go to Hot Dougs 9both places aaron would LOVE) but I have already been there and there is so much America!

So come on guys, sell me your places of residence and maybe you will win an exciting few days with a cheerful pair of Australians!  Accomodation is not necessary, we can alway stay in a hotel!

Actually Anna, I would REALLY like to hang out with you and Aaron named one of the places he would like to go as San Francisco.   So you have a high chance of success.  Does anyone else live around there?

Guys you will have to work hard to beat Anna because she is adorable.

Washington, D.C.  Instead of the drivings, take the Metro.  Driving in DC has surpassed LA for being the world's worst congestion.

BUT!  There are still plenty of things to do and see!  And eat!

YES

Please do this, Jodie, I will love you forever. I live 40 miles away from the city and would be absolutely thrilled to hang out with you guys!

As for other relatively local forumites, Yelley and Jason are not terribly far from here. Chris(tophe) is also nearby in San Jose. Kabir (who used to post on the forums as PECOAE) is a student at U.C. Berkeley, so his schedule is really dependent on school, but whatevvv. Cathy (Ruyi) also studies there but I haven't seen hide nor hair of her in probably two years now, forums or otherwise.

Google says that Rollercon is at the end of July.

Guys we could do San Franciscon and have Jodie attend! It is totally plausible!

Man, if San Franciscon is happening I don't even know what Amanda and I want to do because MEGA JODIE JULY w/ SAN FRANCISCO KICKER would be the best ever.

Note: It is not me who is holding us back from the road trip. It is moneys and I will figure out money soon because jobs are nice but they don't come to me.

Doesn't Ruyi live around there, too?

Also, San Francisco-con sounds nice. It might have to be Katie-less, though. I will have just got back from Guadalajara and not have got a job yet. So.

Crazy! I was just thinking about how I will probably be sick of summer term by my birthday and want to take off to see my brother in Santa Clara or something about that time anyway. If I were to do so and sneak off I could have the chance to undergo the initiatory rites of the Intimate Circle of Webcest!

fuck it I am just going to post this because I have made like 20 drafts none of which sound less creepy than "I would like to come see some folks I have never met before"

I really want to come to San Franciscon but since I'm already committed to a UK Piratical Adventure of Doom I don't think I can afford it :(

I guess I won't be recommending the Monterey Bay Aquarium to her then. They have a small pool with a bunch of stingrays in it. SO YOU CAN PET THEM. I just don't think I want to take that risk with her, we all know what happened to the last guy.

I love you guys!  And Sanfrancisco-con would be awesome!  And Jordan and Amanda could come to that instead!

By the way, I will either be in San Francisco (or wherever) from like 18-21 July or 22-25 July, depending on whether I visit the New Mexicans first or second.  I am booked into my Vegas hotel for Rollercon from 25 July, I leave the country again on the 1 August!  I guess it depends on which set of dates is best for everyone!

THIS IS EXCITING

I PROMISE NOT TO WRESTLE ANY DANGEROUS CREATURES

You should make it the 22-25 so that it's a weekend, and we can plan San Franciscon accordingly.

Every real meet-up needs an Australian! And Dovey said he would like to visit SF as well so he could swing down and then we would have TWO Australians and oh my goodness it would be wonderful.

New York! There's hella shit to see here, I will take you to local punk shows and delicious places to eat, you're welcome to crash on my couch so that you can waste your money on FUN.

Dovey can attest to the fact that hanging out with me is pretty excellent.

Also Kabir who Patrick mentioned is one of my best meatlife friends and when he isn't in Berkeley he is here in New York.

If someone bothers to convince you to come to Boston instead I am willing to get down there too.

Pic related. Dovey at a store off St. Mark's Place, New York's punk mecca.

There ain't too many regulars here. Just Huda, if she chooses to crawl out of her cave.

In Boston there's Jon (Obsessions) and his girlfriend Rachel (pen) and Shane would probably come in from North Bumfuck, MA.

During the summer Ally might be home from college in Jewton.
