A couple of days ago, I recorded a fairy story by Tolkien, called Leaf, by Niggle. As it's 45 minutes long, I didn't post it then, as I wasn't sure it would be appreciated; but if any of you want to listen to an extended fairy story, here it is.

If you want to hear my voice you can listen to my painfully amateurish radio show where I not only mumble my way through inane facts and regularly stammer and get tongue tied trying to say things like "Loretta Lynn" and "Rural Alberta Advantage", but I accidentally press the wrong buttons while trying to cue up a song leading to about 20 seconds of dead air. Awesome. You'll have to skip ahead about 5 minutes through some PSAs and stuff.

We're making podcasts for one of my classes (I'm interviewing my partner NPR style) and my prof kept saying I had such a good speaking voice, which I thought was weird, because I think I sound silly. (Though I guess a lot of people feel that way when they hear recordings of themselves speaking, because my entire class was making comments like that as we were listening to them.) I think it'll be boring, but my classmate and I should be finishing it tomorrow, so I'll post it when it's done.

So has anyone else thought they sounded weird? My voice sounds higher pitched than I'm used to.

Yarp. I think I sound completely different recorded than when I'm just hearing myself speak. So and but then I also get really self-conscious when I record myself, so I end up sounding even more different/weird.

Everyone sounds pretty different to themselves than to others, and audio compression during recording even further accentuates the difference.

I forgot to mention that my great-grandmother is Gigi. Also I think the bugs are sometimes called roly-polies around here too.

My voice definitely sounds different recorded. I hear myself breathing a lot in recordings, for some reason? Also I think my voice is deep and weird so yeah. But many people have said I sound pretty feminine so who knows.

Whatever I just talk like a nineteen year old californian girl anyway except I usually use superfluous "likes" pretty deliberately and also there are lots of curse words. and probably mumbling

I've never really been comfortable reading aloud anyway, like in school when you'd go around the room taking turns reading paragraphs i'd always just be like "noooooo"

i'm mostly just good at talking/yelling and singing, so

We were talking about "like" in my linguistics class once. Apparently one of my English Professors uses "like" a lot consciously in his freshman English classes because he feels it makes him more relateable.
