Chicago Code
« on: 14 Feb 2011, 22:13 »

I think this has potential to be a perfect hybrid of early Homicide: LOTS and Boomtown after going the way of Fringe late first season.

Thoughts?

I'm interested to hear what Chicagoans think of their city's depiction.

Been meaning to catch this - word of mouth has been pretty strong, and Shawn Ryan's the guy behind it. A little worried about network tameness, but at the same time it's going to have network budgets, so.

I find the marketing campaign to be brutally off-putting, especially when their tagline is basically "A LOOSE CANNON COP WITH AN ITCHY TRIGGER FINGER AND A THIRST FOR VENGEANCE."

I think it's a given that FOX/FX can't advertise their programs for shit.

A little worried about network tameness,

It's also a given that they give their really big names some leeway.

Yeah, for all its hamminess, NBC has let SVU be incredibly brutal in the past. Granted, it's an established franchise and not an upstart series but I think anybody who's seen the Shield can attest that family-friendly was not where that show's strengths lay.

Jason Clarke is intense and an Australian. It's good to see some our better actors getting these kinds of parts. I mean, seriously, we have a lot of soapie stars heading 'cross the Pacific to make it big in Hollywood but the majority of them are all bland but pretty ciphers (E.g.: Worthington) who'll work on the cheap so it's truly a welcome site to see actors like Torv and Clarke on big network programs every week.

My uncle played a corpse on that show once, I can definitely vouch for that.

This week was all filler (I hope). I propose that this show and all other network dramas should only ever have 13 episode a seasons.
