Forum rules state that you remain the age you were when you came to prominence.

Thus, Ben and Joe Hocking are always older than time but you and Sam are always fourteen, forever.

All the people who are somewhere between the younger kids and the old folks are like 18-22, doesn't really matter where on that spectrum you fall.

Meh. I'm 24 now.

Going the other way, people commonly assume I'm some ten years younger than I am - the fact that I was due to retire this year (I won't) floored a lot of my co-workers.

People seem to have chronic uncertainty about my age - when I was seventeen I was in a pub (tut tut) and met a guy who was sort of flirting with me and asked how old I was. I told him, and he looked surprised. Another guy said "yeah that was my reaction too, I thought she was a lot younger!" and the flirty guy said "no, I thought she was in her twenties!".

Got the same thing with the kids in Paris; on the first day I dropped the younger girls (4 and 5) at school, people assumed I was their mum. When I took the 12 and 6 year olds out to lunch the waitress asked me where my mum was.

Basically age is meaningless and we should all just forget about it.

This Saturday I'm looking forward to once again being asked by a bunch of Sudanese kids "How old are you?" and then when I tell them the answer, being told "You look older than that."

I was mistaken for 30 when I was 16.
I am mistaken for 30 now.
I am exactly halfway now.
I hope that I am mistaken for 30 forever, it's a good age to look like.

You can't just ask him for the answer, it's a riddle silly!

I am mistaken for 30 now.
I am exactly halfway now.
How old am I?

Halfway from 16 to 30 is 23 is one answer.

Another is to ignore the 16, and say 35 (halfway to three-score years and ten), so he was thought 30 when 16 and is still thought 30 when 35 - maturity and youth in equal measure!

Many people find that there is an age that they continue to feel for the rest of their life - internally when physical constraints make it unsupportable on the surface.  This is often in the 18-22 range, though not infrequently up to the mid-20s.

It's a sort of doublethink, as feeling your natural age is also pretty much unavoidable (e.g. one can feel 20 when rough-housing with your teenage kids, and simultaneously feel 40 when reflecting on how proud you are of them).

Pretty happy with being 18-22 myself. It's worked for the last six years so I think I'll keep sticking with it.

I am much happier now with my current age than I ever was in the 18-22 range. I feel like my age has finally caught up to me, whereas it never fit in that range. Hence why I prefer to be ageless. If I have no age, then there's no conflict.

I have roughly 6 months left in the actual 18 - 22 range, and I dunno, I'm pretty comfortable here. I think I'll stick to it!

22 was the best year. Genuinely, as far as whole years go. So far though, 23 is giving it a run for its money.
