Does it have a mustache? I'll be pretty bummed out if it doesn't have a mustache.

As soon as Gemm posted that, I KNEW it would have moustache. That surpassed my imaginings though!

Not that badass, but here's a bit of cake what I baked.

Just so I can say Hippo Valentines Day for my beloved.

Carrot cake topped with the usual cream cheese icing. Cautionary note, cream cheese doesn't freeze to a firm fondant as much as I had hoped. The design was supposed to be a bit more elaborate but I was ankled by some rather skewed hippos.

Did you make the hippos with a cookie cutter? I used to have a hippo cookie cutter (actually, I wonder if I brought t back with me last time I went and visited my family) and they made the cutest gingerbread cookies!

I miss that cookie cutter.

The 5150 Kramer cake. Made by the fair hands of my girlfriend's mother, but damn that was some tasty guitar.

I intended to take on a more "eastern" view of things and have her and the cake as my tasty, delicious wives.

But yeah that was a pretty amazing cake, her mum is very talented.

Yes, it is topped with chocolate easter eggs, mini marshmallows and pink sprinkles.

I uh, basically just divided up a large vanilla cake batter, made the different colours and piled them on top of each other in the cake tin. Don't mix, make patterns if you feel like it, put less of one and then more of another, whatever you want, just don't get in there with a spoon and mix stuff. It's interesting to see what happens to the layers when it cooks though, some shift, some don't.

This is what it looked like before it went in the oven:

Last time I made rainbow cupcakes, I showed pictures to my mother and grandmother and they were completely revolted and asked if we actually ate them because they'd obviously make us sick. A couple of weeks later, when I said my boyfriend was sick, they asked if he'd eaten one of the cakes.

Our wedding cake is nowhere near as cool as all these, but we loved it anyway. The girl zombie is holding out a heart! My mom was going to make our cakes but she got really sick that week so I had to take over, so they got done in the midst of every other crazy thing that was happening. I usually make prettier cakes.

And the groom's cake turned out godawful but it still cracks us up. Ryan wanted these little zombie guys and fleeing villagers so I whipped up the cake and let him put them on it. It looks like something that belongs on one of those bad-cake websites, but it was tasty at least!

Lots of vibrant colours squick adults. If I know adults are going to eat I go for vanilla/white, cocoa/choc brown and pink.

Yeah one time my dad put hot pink food colouring into our rice for dinner and mum refused to eat it, it was pretty funny.

I wonder how lemon juice/zest, yellow coloured segments would go down in a marble cake.

Have either of you tried the strawberry essence for cakes or whatever? I'm tempted but sceptical.

I made cupcakes a while ago and thought I'd share. Behold! Nerdy cupcakes and the power of sugar!

Aww yeah, mushrooms and pokeballs!
