"That's funny, my wholesale price just went up 10% and I have no idea why."

Jeph's probably not going to top that punchline this week. Or even this month, for that matter.
I wouldnt bet on that one.

P.s.: Darn, I have such a beautiful post count now (911). Now how can I ever post again ? Life is unfair !! I guess I have to make a new acount ...

I'm thinking at this point that the shipping is being done specifically to annoy Jeph/moderators

The recently banned contributor liked to try to wind me up, I think, though not by shipping.  Nearly all shipping that pops up now (like the one that triggered my remark this morning) comes from newbies who have clearly not read the rules yet nor lurked enough to see how things are.

Mike, that's your browser's failing, not the forum's.  When I type "dfda" I see red squigglies.  I even see squigglies under "squigglies"!  As for the facial hair, I guess he's just starting to grow out a beard without a mustache after just having a soul patch for a while?

I stand by my demands for a spell checker in this forum, but it still ain't here.  :-(

Both Opera and Firefox provide me with a spell checker at every site!

Socialized kicking of Swedish ass at the WC finals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Calm down, it's only ice-hockey...   :-D

Sorry Akima, but you are now officially dead to all Canucks.  There is no such thing as "only ice-hockey" here, all of us undergo a very through indoctrination in these matters.

Work took me to the capital. I just checked into a hotel a quarter mile from the market square. The official party will start there in two hours. The police expects about 100000 people to show up. TV is showing our air force Hornets escorting the flight of the homecoming team just now.

Yeah, Akima. It is not just ice-hockey.

For the record: Canada has 23 WC titles, the Soviets 22, ..., Finland and U.S.A. both 2).

What is the real life business reason for two small businesses that may or may not be in decent shape to partake in such a deal? It seems to me that Jim would be better off stealing the roasting secrets of Dora and taking her coffeeshop out entirely rather than cooperating and making two somewhat identical coffeeshops. Either they're leaning towards a merge, or this "negotiation" that started out as a joke is going to be utterly idiotic.

No - I'm old enough to have seen both series on TV but I'm not quite old enough to accept that!

And yes there was a comic this morning - I'm thinking that Faye had put more thought into the proposal than Dora did with her comment, but hey, who am I to judge the lady's negotiating skills?

Actually, Faye and Padma did not negotiate anything.

If you check Thursday's posting, they were simply finding the synergy between the companies. The money angle never came up. It was more like a couple of friends playing matchmaker.  :-D    [Can you say "shipping"]

It's not negotiation until prices are discussed!

Windows 7, here, and they managed to get right what they should have gotten right in Vista this time around.

I think that it kind of goes like that for home versions of Windows (every other version being absolute shit, with the others being actual improvements; see the transition from 98 to ME to XP to Vista to 7).

Wooo?
You're so sadly neglected
And often ignored,
A poor second to Belgium,
When going abroad.

Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I quite want to be,
Your mountains so lofty,
Your treetops so tall.
Finland, Finland, Finland.
Finland has it all.

W7 is only good if you have a computer powerful enough to run it. It takes a huge amount of processing power and a good graphics card, also the sales policy is really shitty (Basic does sweet FA, but how much does it cost?)

I run W7 on a ten year old desktop(not as a primary pc, its the one in in my daughters room) and it runs easily as well if not better than XP did. Vista had a HUGE footprint, W7 really not so much.

The thing is... To me, and I suspect much of the world, an unqualified "World Cup" means football (soccer). I had no idea to which World Cup you were referring (I knew it wasn't the football one). On looking into the matter further, I found that Australia not only had a team in the tournament (Division II)*, but won its group. Which just goes to show that Australians will compete in any sport, no matter how ridiculous. Come on Finland, enter the world surfing championship! "HA! IN YOUR FACE! WOO!"  :-D

*China came second in Group B. Come on China, you can do better than that!   Uh oh... It seems ice-hockey fanaticism is contagious...

Division II in the IIHF (International Ice Hockey Federation) is the equivalent of the double-A minor leagues of baseball. It would be the equivalent of a bunch of teenagers going up against a team of veteran professionals - in pretty much any league in any sport out there.

Meanwhile: anyone else getting this vibe that Jeph is preparing to write Dora out of the story?

I hope not, simply because I feel there is a huge amount of unresolved ideas with Dora, especially her past and her own issues. It just doesn't feel like her character has run her course yet.

Quite the opposite. This is fresh type of relationship for Jeph to include in the strip. He's lived it with the T-Shirt co. "Topaco"?

I was going to say that would be a death kneel for at least one outlet, but I've just remembered that where I live there are at least three Subway outlets all within 10 miutes walk of each other and each is practically on the main street. Not to mention there are two branches of a reasonable successful domestic store on the main street...right across the road from each other. With a third branch literally two streets over.

Meanwhile: anyone else getting this vibe that Jeph is preparing to write Dora out of the story?

I don't think so. If Dora decides to work with TSB she'll end up at their store some day, likely running into Marten and we'll finally get to see this: http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1875

You realise that I'm now trawling through the archives trying to find a good picture of Marten in a top-hat now? Damn you.

++Edit++....Found one.

See, this is why I advocated the minions do the negotiating first. Good job, Dora. Even Faye knows to divide the taunting from the negotiating.

Cue Dora unwittingly signing over CoD to Jim, and the QC version of the old Iron Man storyline "Demon in a Bottle".

Only Dora does not end up with a suit of power armour....

Hey, we've only seen Jim in one comic, and I like him already!  Maybe it's the Mr. Fantastic hair he's got going on.

Maybe Pizza Girl was just faking her death so she didn't have to give up her life as Penelope.

Cross genre Jump! I looked at the Dora & Jim introduction and thought yikes! Dora is doing business with the animated version of Little finger from Game of thrones. Too much tv make cat_rant something something.... :psyduck:

Hope this business venture works. It would be interesting to observe the partnership. Also Dora was totally schooled. That's business for you.

And the scary thing is, you did it without your best goaltender.

(And I'm waiting for him to figure out who I'm talking about...)

Can't pass this. Hmmm. The Predators' starter? No, must be the netminder who won the Stanley cup last year with the Blackhawks and seems to be doing reasonably well sith the Sharks this year. But... Kipper is my hometown hero, even if he wouldn't necessarily make the national team any longer. Hmmm.

@Akima: Surfing? Amidst all this ice? Hey, let's invent another sport like that and start competing!  :-D

@All: Sorry about derailing this. I just couldn't keep the lid on

Hmm...so, Jim has some bad experiences with lawyers. And has a dry sense of humor that creeps Dora a little.

Awkward zone senses...tingling.

Some ominous music during panel four would have been perfect.

Is there a computing subforum?

It's called CLIKC at present. Essentially it's a computer games forum, but people also discuss computer hardware problems or getting new computers, from time to time.
