Jesus Jim! Way to roll a natural twenty on the creepy skill subset!

I've gone from being sympathetic to step away from the creepy man in 24 hours. I  am flip flopping between two decisions- either he was of the market for a long time and has no chat up skills or he is one of those people who get a kick out of making others feel awkward.

As for Fayemagedon and Padma these is something somewhat sibling rough housing about that last panel. I like it :)

Ya missed it.

If she is obviously over the age of consent, one simply does not ask a woman's age.

And, if you happen to find out, DO NOT let her know you know.

True, true, but Jim opened the gate with his remark about being surprised at how successful Dora was for her age. He still gets creepy points. But the man bakes all night so one might expact his social skills to be only half-baked. Prolly spends a lot of time on web forums, too.  :-D

On a different note, the art in the last panel is just amazing - I keep looking at the facial expressions, the body placement, the tilt of the heads, the details of postioning indicated in the clothes... Man, he's gotten good.  Like, lightyears beyond just a year or so ago.
Indeed. I think this with practically every strip. Perhaps I should put it in my sig-line, but I think that would be stepping over the line into total fangirl-ism, only one step short of turning up to a con cosplaying as Momo-tan.

Where I come from, even attempting to guess a lady's age is so far from suave you can't see there from here.
But if a lady asks you how old you think she is, it's always 25.  Apparently that's not a very well known fact.  Jim knows about it though ;)

Yeah, Dora is at that age where you have to guess 25 or 26.

When a woman is older, you always under-guess to be flattering, but under-guessing 25 might come off as making her an insult.

If you get yourself in a situation where a woman ask you that question, you're already fucked (and not in the good way.)

Your only move at that point is to exclaim "Oh my God, this parachute is a knapsack!" and exit post haste.

A great response if the woman asking is in a relationship with you. If not, it could cause greater problems. Of course this all goes back to Method's original supposition that you're screwed if she asks that question anyway...

...and ladies, if you're wondering why we're saying such things about a seemingly simple question, it's because most of us have learned from experience that there is no good answer to it[/b]. No answer you'll be happy with anyway.

Rest, regroup, recover ... Do what ya need to do, Jeph. Your filler art is a lightyear or so ahead of what most offer with full steam up, so don't worry there. Looks like your Big 3 know how to take a break and have fun. So let 'em.

I'm trying to work out whether the look in Faye's eyes is a scowl of anger or just a reflection in her glasses. Perhaps both. Either way, I would NOT want to be on the team facing her... and not just because I've never played kickball before.

Hope Jeph will be feeling better soon; anxiety attacks are about as bad as it gets.

"Does this dress make me look fat?"

I must admit, sometimes I will deliberately ask the "Does this XXXXX make me look XXXXX?" question purely to witness the uncomfortable look followed by the faltering answer given half a second too late. Evil? Perhaps. Fun? You betcha.

As much as I love Bonercats as a kickball team, I think the entire CoD team would be more inclined to play Roller Derby with Marten as a ref. Hannelore would be an excellent Jammer and Faye's deadly hips would be fantastic.

Also they would have truly great derbydentities.

Best relaxation wishes Jeph!

Ok, now thats new to me.

Why am I not surprised?

Hanners looks good with a cup.

Why isn't Marten  wearing a cup?

I'm trying to work out whether the look in Faye's eyes is a scowl of anger or just a reflection in her glasses. Perhaps both. Either way, I would NOT want to be on the team facing her... and not just because I've never played kickball before.

I think those are black stripes under Faye's eyes, like american football players use - not sure of the theory, but it has something to do with glare blocking their vision when they look up to follow the ball?  Or maybe it just makes them look more evilly intimidating.

Works for Faye...

I never understood that either.

Surely if it improved vision, natural selection would have done it eons ago.

And not just for humans. Any visually oriented species would benefit. As it is, you only see that sort of coloration in racoons, and they're nocturnal!

I hope the source of Jeph's stress isn't a contingent of the crazies talking about Saturday being the end of the world.  :psyduck:

Why is Hanners wearing a cup?

Is there something we don't know about?

It doesn't improve vision, it simply reduces the glare from the sun which might compromise a player during a game. Warpaint had the same purpose, except, you know, preventing someone getting their head chopped off instead of fumbling the ball.

You probably need prominent cheekbones for the glare off your own face to be a problem.

And remember, warpaint's original purpose was  intimidation!

...I don't think painting your body blue and running, naked, screaming at your opponents counts as camouflage...

Faye looks like she's getting ready to pummel her creator over the lack of a strip. Marten and Hanners have the "aw, butts" look going on.

I wonder what Jeph had in mind for the script that he so disliked that he had to toss out?

It really depends on terrain and purpose. Histroicaly speaking, in ye olde Britannia forests, it worked very well. It helped you hide better in those forests, and when you were in position, you could run out screaming, scaring the bejeezus out of your opponent for that second or two it would take to cross the distance and ram twleve inches of steel up their livers. Doesn't work on everyone though. Julius Caesar found it annoying more than anything else.

I like the filler art. It looks great - though now I'm hoping for a CoD vs. TSB game.

I don't know what's more disturbing, Hanners apparently wearing a cup or Pintsize obviously wearing a cheerleader skirt.

I'n no expert on athletic gear, but Hanners seems to be wearing a tactical flak vest "with extension" -- which makes a Hanners-esque kind of sense. Our spacegirl is more likely to shop out of the SWAT catalogue -- that's kevlar on her head after Espressosaurus II goes awry, not a bike helmet -- than go to the sporting goods store.

EDIT: It's still pretty damn cute.

I just have to second that regarding the mystery of Hanners' outfit. And with regards to Marten, I think that he simply doesn't know what the game is. I don't. Frankly, it makes sense that Pintsize is the only one who actually knows what he's doing there...

Oh, Faye knows what she's doing. The league officials will find out in a bit ...

Faye sure knows how to ram people, if that's all there is to it - but I doubt that. I think it looks a lot like Faye is just putting up a confident face, maybe because she thinks it's as simple as that. Then again, I don't know the game...
