Hanners apparently wearing a cup
Catcher's vests just always have a dangling part that covers the nether regions.

Was going to point this out as well.  My mother was a catcher for years on a team, and yeah - they don't make gender specific protective gear.  It has that dangling bit no matter what.

As for Faye, I'm relatively certain she's 'kicking' cleanup.  You just know she can kick the shit out of that ball.

"Does this dress make me look fat?"
If you get that, you're screwed either way, so you might as well go all the way and say "yes it does, so take it off immediately.
"Oh, no; it's not the dress that makes you look fat."

I think the Bonercats could whomp the crap out of the Dickwolves. Any day, any diamond.

Jeph, if you're reading this: I don't mind the days off of the story, and this one-panel was a pretty good piece on its own. Better than most, even. You've been a pretty cool guy in person and for what you're sharing out here on the webbernets, and I have every reason to believe you'll regain your confidence.

...I don't think painting your body blue and running, naked, screaming at your opponents counts as camouflage...

I know you were referring to the Celts -- or at least to Braveheart -- but you just made me picture the Blue Man Group, naked and on a rampage, and now I can't stop giggling.

Also, I like Pintsize in the cheerleader outfit!  If a Pintsize plushie or action figure is ever offered, Jeph could make a mint selling that plus accessories (cheerleader, underwear ninja, top hat, Castro cap plus "beard", lil' box o' cake mix . . .).

W00t to the Shebly and Jeph comeek on Tumblr!  No worries, Jeph -- take your time.  Sometimes it's good to take a break.

Heh. I vote he puts that up for tonight's (tomorrow's?) comic. Or at least reserves it as a future filler page-it's as funny as many of his regular comics, and better filler than most webcomic creators put out...

NP Jeph, everybody has their off days.

Personally, I don't think Hanners is wearing enough protection for her.  I expected to see here in full SWAT Tactical Armour.

I thought the best part was that he called her Shebly.  Also, I think my dog (when he was still alive) would've made the same remark if I tried to explain what papers were, and how I had to write them.  In fact, I'd probably explain them word for word how Jeph did.

No, but he's done complete comics with alternate endings (one where Faye peeks up Momo's skirt and gets a face-full of eel, for ex.) and also sketches and stuff.

OK, for those not familiar with the game;

It's baseball, with the small white leather covered projectile replaced by a large rubber air-filled ball, and the bat replaced with your foot.  The ball is "pitched" along the ground, and you kick it, with roughly the same rules applying - four bases, three "strikes" and you're out, fielders pick up and throw the ball, you're out if you're tagged with the ball, etc.  The field positions are even the same, although the outfielders are closer in, and I thnk the diamond's usually smaller than a regulation baseball diamond.

It's a popular way to get the unathletic out and running around in school gym classes, so it's been taught in american schools for years.  And it's a better use for those balls than the sadistic game of dodgeball.

Oh, wait.  There's a website

When I was a kid playing kickball, fielders could tag out runners, but beaning them with the ball was also a perfectly acceptable way to achieve a put-out.

Was it different for your region/age group?

I loved Jeph's Tumblr comic, especially his new, and in my opinion best ever, Fart-chan.

Oh Jeph. Chill. Deep breathes. We all are human, we are fallible. We all have bad days. Artistic temperament means you will hold yourself to a very high standard and then feel utterly fail when you don't met up to your own standard. Chalk it up to a bad day. Mind yourself and try again tomorrow.

My other half writes games as a hobby. He is very critical and I see this kind of frustration from time to time. He feels he left his players down when this happens.

For what its worth I see the bonercats could be a very awesome poster. I'd buy one!

Ah, the awkward zone, and they lack both funny hats and direct common interests to defeat the awkward zone, and sadly also lack easy access to fancy clothing to celebrate its defeat.

You know, if Jeph didn't want there to be people who ship Hanners/Eliot, he wouldn't make them SO DAMN ADORABLE TOGETHER!

*The preceding statement about shipping is not in and of itself a ship, and any and all shipping of said coupling is to be considered unrelated to the statement stated earlier*

"Ask Emcee for a key?"

Not at first, but it took two times to realize it was a cramped "EMPLOYEE".

For what its worth I see the bonercats could be a very awesome poster. I'd buy one!

It was made as a print for the Toronto con he went to a couple of weeks ago.  Limited edition, and all.  So it was "ready art" for filler.  Maybe he'll make it available?  I'm sure it'd sell...

I loved Jeph's Tumblr comic, especially his new, and in my opinion best ever, Fart-chan.

Like the rest of his characters, she's looking better with every iteration!  And oddly realistic from the neck down... her anime head's cute too, though.

I suppose I could've just said "This"...

Oh my god. I feel this. That thing where you have to stand next to someone you've exchanged a few words with, for longer than you wanted to converse and so have to keep standing, in silence because you've nothing to say/run out of things to say/are too shy to talk and it is so uncomfortable.
I mean seriously the fifth panel: pretending that if you slightly turn away from the person that's two feet away from you and stare at something else for the next 20 minutes, it's like they're not there at all.

Oh dear.  I just realized, yesterday would have been comic 1929.

Jeph crashed.

Lets avoid a great depression, shall we?

Yeah, relax; it's just an off-day, not the end of the world..........

If the apocalypse does come tomorrow, that would mean Hanners and Elliot would awkwardly stand next to each other...

It's similar to what Douglas Adams and John Lloyd called corriecravie in "The Meaning of Liff".

Douglas Adams created so many great concepts, I swear. The SEP is my favorite thing ever

Yes, we'd need an appropriate villian to fight and then the Yanks would wait two years before committing troops.

Love seeing Douglas Adams references in here.

Not trying to ship but I would like to see more of Hanners and Elliot. Their awkwardness is adorable but they seem like if they could just get the right topic they'd get into some long, fun discussion. Elliot seemed kept up with space and okapi talk until he accidentally creeped her out.

Actually in the time I've wrote that I'm taking it back.  :-P They wouldn't have a long, fun discussion but Elliot seems like the kind of guy who'd be happy to sit and listen to most people whatever the topic which would suit when Hanners gets into her mini-rants like the one when the guy who flirted with her: http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1856

Somehow, this just doesn't give me my usual fix.
And I won't get another 'til monday. Arg. I'm hurting here.

An archive binge, starting around #600 will keep the withdrawal symptoms at bay for a couple of days.

I'm thinkin' Jeph needs to do a Saturday Special comic where Hannelore's Dad deflects the Apocalypse with a network of ultra high powered lasers using his station as the control center (or alternate-reality series next week where the cast of QC is having to deal with an unexpected Zombie Apocalypse, followed by an "It was all a dream" on next Friday).

That's called "Fanfic" and Go For It!

We'll expect a rough outline by Monday and a full shooting script before the end of the month.

It's only fanfic if someone other than Jeph does it (and it was a suggestion meant to be a fun diversion where he could do crazy stuff and not worry about continuity for a week or something while still posting a comic and also celebrating the world not actually coming to an end).

It's friendship, friendship, just a perfect blendship.
