No salt or lime on the table.
Maybe he ate the lime. Making him a sour-faced puss.

maybe he made it into a hat. :-P

(also- a note on "askew".....Google it if you have not yet done so. Be temporarily amazed.)

More things to Google!  The word "tilt" does the same as "askew".  But now try "do a barrel roll" and "zerg rush".

:-( I can't get zerg rush or barrel roll to work for me (probably because our IT dude never updates anything and we're still running Firefox 4.0) but I found this. The hexadecimal results are fun and I enjoy the spam recipe in gmail. haha

Yes, very likely, it would not work in Camino (which shares the Gecko engine with Firefox and is recognised as Firefox by Google services), but it worked fine in Chrome and Safari (which share the WebKit engine). Today's hurdles game worked fine in all of them.

Yeah, works fine in FireFox 13.0.1. Which reminds me, it's been pestering me to update again.

They all work in Opera 12.  And Firefox went to 14 only a few weeks after 13, I think; they've gone completely crazy with their numbering.

Seems like they're ridiculous on updates. Kind of annoying, but the script-blocker is the most effective and easiest to use that I've found, so I'll suffer through.

Getting over the Olympics

Quote
5. Pretend your work ID lanyard is a medal:

Office workers take a bow. The British workforce kept the greatest show on earth running. Now it's time to take the plaudits.

Get out of your swivel chair and stand at your desk. Feel the podium beneath your feet. Place your hands on the back of your neck, stretch out your fingers and reach for the cord of your employee lanyard.

The lanyard is like a necklace for your work ID. But it has just morphed into something else. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath and trace the line of the lanyard cord as both sides meet above the pectoral muscles.

Close your ears to the ephemeral noise of office life and concentrate on your inner Olympian. Allow the opening bars of Chariots of Fire to wash over you.

Caress your medal. Think about the years of pain, the early mornings training in the rain, the nights where glasses of sauvignon blanc were declined, and all those people who doubted you. Bring the medal to your lips. Hum along to God Save the Queen.

Fight back the tears, knowing that your face is being broadcast around the world. And finally just to check it's all real - bite your medal. You may find it a bit plasticky. Then sit down and get on with your work.

Find a plastic ruler (a 12 inch one)
Hold one end with your thumb and forefinger
Starting at the end you're holding, repeatedly bite down on the ruler as you work back and forth on the ruler
Try not to giggle at the sound it makes

Whenever I put my finger in my ear, I get this really weird tingling on the inside of the elbow on that arm.  It's not a normal tingle, like a limb falling asleep or a funny bone being knocked, but just like...gah, I don't even know how to describe it.

Quoting this because I love this picture. I got into a huge fight over this picture with someone on facebook about essentialism, though, so it's kinda sad I'm linking the two in my head.

I actually just finished watching all Daria episodes and both movies... Man, how I love that show. One of the very very few TV shows that I can honestly say I will remember and cherish for a long time.

PS: Omg, 1000th post and what a perfect post to use in order to describe my love for the series.

I've started watching the whole series. I didn't think much of it when it was originally on, a little too young to get it I think. Saw a few episodes on TV a few months ago then got it on DVD and absolutely love it, wish I gave it a proper chance before. Didn't realize there were so many episodes I haven't seen. Don't think I had seen anything past season 4 before getting the DVD. Watched Is It Fall Yet? last night.

Same thing happened to me. I didn't think much of it when I first saw it but it was obvious since when it was on the TV I was like 10 or something so yeah... But I started watching it again 1-2 years ago and I absolutely loved it and felt such a strong connection with the main characters. Definitely targeted to those who are about or just finished highschool otherwise it doesn't have the same punch to it since most of the time while I was watching the episodes I went all "OMG YES! THIS HAPPENS! YEAAAAAH". Hopefully you'll enjoy the fifth season and the final movie. Brilliant shizzle.

Me too. He is a great example of that guy you know probably isn't good for you but damn, he's cute. Plus the writers were great at doing odd mixed signals from him.
Been a while since I've been into a show so much that I've been analyzing the characters' every move.

I'm not surprised by a cat biting on a piano key as much as the flattened ears. Showing some affect there, cat? If the keys were truly ivory, i.e., formerly elephant tusk, would a cat know it?

I can relate to that. Of all the characters, Trent and Daria where the least expressive so even their moves where useful to figure out how they were feeling and/or what they were trying to say.

I actually find Trent very hard to figure out. Although formerly being a teenage girl with a bloke like him around has a lot to do with that. Some of the stuff he says and does towards Daria is super confusing, which I'm sure is intentional from a storyteller point of view but a character motivation point of view is baffling.

Also to keep things pointless: Call Me Maybe parody crossed with The Dark Knight Rises. Warning for spoilers, sort of. Featuring ridiculous Christian Bale look-a-like.

Oh man. Meeee toooo. I don't care how ridiculous it is, he's still hot for a cartoon character. I always loved that show. My best friend and I joked that she was Daria and that I was Jane. Proof that Trent and I were never meant to be.  :-P

also, have a cat brain!
