Quite a few times, usually in the off-season -- I grew up down the shore and I avoid Seaside like the plague during the summer months. Besides the foxes, there're also snowy owls at this time of year (though I have yet to find one). I never seem to see the foxes when I'm on the trails... I think they stick closer to the parking lots because people feed them (even though they're not supposed to).

I didn't bother with the trails, I just drove to the end of the road and walked a bit on the beach. But yeah, I saw a few foxes on the road itself (including that one, of course). What a great day that was, not to mention it being over 50 degrees (10C) in the end of December.

Well, if you feel unhealthy, there are plenty of things to do. Otherwise, different people are attracted to different types. If that wasn't so, we wouldn't have the diversity we see in the various people we run into every day. Having been both clinically underweight and clinically overweight in my lifetime has taught me that there is *always* someone who will find you attractive.

If you want to change yourself for your own reasons, go for it, as long as you don't neglect the whole health thing. If not, don't bother. Just be happy.

I'm working on loving my body as it is now. If I love my body, I am more likely to take good care of it, so I can then work on becoming healthier. Not losing weight - I refuse to get a scale, as the number means nothing to me now. I just want to be healthy, whatever weight I end up at will be okay with me.

I hear ya, Neko. I'm coming to terms with that myself. It's odd.....there are so many women that are my size and larger that I think are positively gorgeous, but it's hard to look in the mirror and like what I see. I feel like they own it so much better than I do and carry themselves with that confidence. My confidence ran away about 40 pounds ago and I need to get it back. I think part of it comes from the fact that I was always fairly small and then gained a lot of weight because I stopped taking care of myself- I ate like crap and stopped working out, so a lot of the negativity comes from the fact that I know I stopped caring about myself for a while. It's hard to not feel negative about something you know you did wrong and are trying to fix. The extra pounds are just a physical reminder of that negative mindset/lifestyle.

It's so easy to look at someone else and go "They're doing great! Look at how beautiful and confident they are!" and you kind of forget that they're not this magical creature that was born flawless and they have their own struggles too. I'm trying to keep that in mind because it normalizes my own insecurities and makes me feel a little more ok. It's not as good as completely cutting out comparisons of myself to other people, but it helps to remember that pretty people are still people.

Aaand I went on a tangent here. Sorry, guys!

At the City of Phoenix Police Crime Lab in downtown Phoenix, there is a wonderful piece of public art. It's a shame nobody knows about it, really, because it's very interesting. Called Pattern Recognition by artists Ralph Helmick and Stuart Schecter, the work pays homage to forensic science.
