I marathoned the whole thing!
« on: 11 Oct 2011, 04:52 »

Hi, I'm new I really wish I'd found this comic years ago and been able to follow it at the right pace, I only learned of it recently and liked what I saw enough to start from the beginning.  It's gonna be weird to drop to one strip a day now but I thought now I've finally caught up I'd seek out the forum.

A lot of people must have done this I expect, and also caught themselves thinking they really should have tried out their own comic by now which is something that's been in my mind for years.  Does every webcomic reader have a comic in their heads waiting for the motivation to get out?

Anyway, hello!

Welcome!  Withdrawl from an archive binge isn't that bad.  We're here to fill the void...

And yes, I've had an idea for a comic for years.  Never got past the first three or four strips, though - I'm no writer, and although I can draw, it's painstakngly slow and not comic-quality.  Takes more than an idea, I guess!

Welcome, welcome!
Some of us have read it from start to present a couple of times and experienced what you experienced. You have been sucked into a very black-hole~y part of the internet. ^^
(I myself once finished the entirety of - then - 1500 strips in a single day. Those were the days.)

Dito. Multiple ideas. Never came past the conceptual stage. Got different styles all worked out but lack long-term-motivation.

I've had a couple ideas, one might still happen. It's making a buffer for the first month that gets to me because if I just draw a comic and post it, it's less likely I'll keep it up.

I've a writing partner now though who is interested in making a webcomic Oglaf style. Not in the gratuitous sex way, in the bunch of different stories that can start, end, just be one page way. Since writing is currently my weak point and drawing is his weak point, it might work.

I'm new here too. I started with comic 1 on Monday and I finished last night with 2040. Now what am I going to do? I want to read a thousand more!

The worst part of burning through hundreds of strips in a day is when you remember the next day "Oh, there was [insert random fact or joke] that I just read yesterday. Let me just find... it.... crap"

Hmm I know what you mean. Also i feel like when I read many strips in a day I seem to miss all the small things that other point out.
Or maybe I just haven't read them enough?

I know! I've spent two days trying to find the comic where they're on the couch and there is a blue awkward cloud around them. It's somewhere between 1000 and 2040 lol

It was when Marten was joking about what it would be like to date Faye, and he said something along the lines of "Yeah, but the sex would have been amazing"

It took me two days to find where Marigold was introduced and Hanners got her big entrance.

Yeah, she looked extremely different at her bar entrance. Actually, I was looking for the one where she shows up in a blue jumpsuit and announces "I am Hannelore Ellicot-Chatham. I END MESSES" one, since I wanted it for a background

Haha, yeah that was a funny one. Although pretty much any comic with Hanners promises to be a good one.
