That little redhead
« on: 10 Oct 2011, 06:49 »

Now usually little side characters don't really get to me but today in "The Prince" The girl in the background caught my attention she seemed to stand out a little to much just for filler, plus the book she was reading "Bird Care", May seem innocent BUT it could be a setup for a quirky new female character with her own oddities!  What do the rest of you think? Usually I wouldn't post something like this but she just seemed to stand out far to much, to me she was almost the center of attention for the first to panels maybe it's just the brightness of her hair but I dunno. So again I ask what do you think of this background mystery girl?

She's featured several times in guest and canon comics, her name is most likely Sweet-Tits. Join the latest comic thread where we're discussing her.

Sure she is.  The full title of the book (visible while Jeph was drawing) is Bird Care and Feeding.  Is she trying to take Yelling Bird in hand, I wonder? - they had a sort of accord at the end of the Christmas/New Year arc they shared.

The way she turns and looks toward Steve makes her seem like more than a background character.

The SCORN comic was the only one I remembered her in - good catch, but I'm pretty sure sweet-tits is independent of the comic.  It's someone else...

Re: 1170 and 1919 - The hair's too long for it to be ST.

Of course, it might be way meta to think that the whole strip all this time hasn't been about Marten, Faye and Dora, but instead about ST and her observations of the three of them over the course of the entire strip.

And it turns out ST's roommate was Sara, but she wasn't killed by an allosaur like everyone thinks. She died jumping off a bridge in front of an onrushing train while trying to avoid Yelling Bird.

Yelling Bird is the hundreds-of-millions-of-years-evolved descendant of the allosaur that may or may not have eaten Sara, come back from the future alternate timeline to scream and shout and torment us, the little dickcissel.

I would love to see sweet tits get her own introduction. Unfortunately that probably was just an awesome cameo shout out. Unless we make a sacrifice to Jeff so that he might be pleased and answer our prayers.

Maybe she puts on a wig, padded supersuit, and platform boots and is Pizza Girl?

From Jeph's Tumblr a month or so back:

"This might just be me being weird, but I notice in a lot of QC strips set in public places there's a girl with red hair in the background. Is it the same girl every time?" - feelinguncomfortable

Similar to what I posted in the WCDT thread, but I prefer my version ;)
This is CANON. Sweet-Tits is in-universe.  That means the Shame Orb exists too. When will we see Shame Orb? zomg I'm now shipping Momo x Shame Orb.  No no, PINTSIZE and Shame Orb!
 :-P
No, you see Sweet Tits is a member of the strip's crew. Marten, Faye and most of the other human cast members are blissfully unaware they're in a giant Truman Show-like system. Exceptions include Steve (who was fired for some time - the strip of him drunkenly hallucinating during his disappearance was played by another actor, who wore the large beard to disguise this fact), Dora (whose breakup with Marten and move out of Northampton was triggered by her finding out what was really going on. She originally intended to leave entirely, but was convinced to stay on a reduced schedule after she found out the world outside was even weirder) and Hanners' mum (who owns the whole enterprise and occasionally appears As Herself for amusement) and all the AnthroPCs, who are actually mere automotons voiced by humans (The "Momo's new chassis" arc was a device to allow the Momo VA to appear in-show as herself after she threatened to walk).

Despite the bizarreness of the world outside the QC bubble, including Emotion Orbs which rule the world, the world inside is deliberately kept to an early-2000s state, with the exception of the AnthroPCs who were added after extensive focus group tests insisted on additional wackiness.

The red haired girls have different eye colors in the strips mentioned.
1858 blue
1863 green
1919 teal
Doesn't necessarily mean it's not supposed to be the same person.

#1601, i.e. the redrawn version of #3 - that bartender (who didn't exist in the original) could be Sweet-Tits too. ;)

Best not to ask too many questions when the USDOKYA is involved. Not that we're saying it is or isn't. In fact, this conversation never took place and *I am not here.*

Jeph got asked once what Steve's "nondescript office job" was and answered "murders".

Slightly more seriously, Steve might have the "attract 'em, then drive 'em away" personality, or is attracted to the sort of girl who is, um, not ready to form an attachment -- or they just get a good look at what he's like and pull the striped handle. Cosette might be the (scary) exception. Intense young lady, that Cosette.
