I sent today's cartoon off to a librarian I know.
50:50 she tells you laser-sorting isn't a level six ability.

My wife is not a librarian, but is none-the-less the Deputy Director of a university central library.

I have to assume the Level 6 librarian was a robot, because human librarians are essentially worthless in a world with robots.  I wonder everyday why Marten is still employed, he brings no unique skill set to the job.

Well, some people would prefer to be serviced by a human. Besides, aqcuiring (or even hiring) a robot might be too expensive. After all, I assume Marten is pretty cheap labour.

They'd get a super shelving bot like the one from the last episode of Ghost in the Shell: SAC, but they tend to get OCD about browsers and the college is unwilling to exclude people from the stacks. But really, don't think too hard about how any of them have normal jobs IN A WORLD where human size gynoids can be had on a WoW nerd's web developing salary, A WORLD where the singularity has occurred, A WORLD with children raised in space stations, defense satellites in chatrooms, and little robots who stuff themselves with cake batter.

Clearly Marten would have been replaced by a fridge on a zip line in the Smif library if Jeph made any effort to keep his world logical and consistent.

It had to happen sooner or later.  Frankly Jeph should probably take a complete week or two off one of these days, including not putting up guest strips, and take a vacation from everythng. He deserves it for all his hard work.   All the QC addicts will survive.

That a degree is needed isn't necessarily surprising, but said degree being a Masters is. And it is in fact among the lowest paid jobs that requires a Masters degree.

In the US/UK?

In Germany there´s an apprenticeship to become 'Assistant Librarian' and then there´s the new Bachelor and Masters degrees for anything higher up..
but, yeah, starting salary is around 1300€.

Jeph apparently hit the Cintiq as soon as the lights came back on. Hat's off to him, soon as I can find my hat.
I saw the stream was active and opened it up; very first thing I saw was an EXTREMECLOSEUP of Hanners' STARING EYES, in Panel 4.

I'm betting that after several days without power and with (presumably) limited access to internet/whatever, the strips probably got impacted in his brain there and if he hadn't done a comic he might have had a Brain Explosion Event

I'd agree but I could never stick to it. I work at a charter school, my salary is 30% lower than starting salary at a "real" public school, while our standardized test scores are in the top 10-15 schools in the state.

I hate to be that guy who's all like "so and so genre was so much better before it became popular (read: before you heard about it)"

Two Panel T-Shirt with Panels 3 & 4.
Front and back? Or perhaps the art from 3 on the front, and just Tai's line on the back.
