Merchandise.. dare I buy any?
« on: 03 Dec 2011, 11:53 »

So I've read that some have had problems with orders and whatnot, and a lack of response from Cristi and Jeph... makes me doubt whether I dare buy anything from the store. So I just wanted to ask if it's highly likely that I won't receive my order (if I place one) in the foreseeable future. Is it?

Apologies if this is the wrong forum, but none of the others seemed to match the topic either. :<
Cheers

I have never had any problems with merchandise that I have ordered from Jeph.

Now that Topatoco is in charge of fulfillment, orders ship fast and reliably. I've never heard of a serious problem with them.

Ordered both books and a TEH shirt without any problems.

I'm not sure where you'd get an idea like that - there used to be a thread for merchandise issues, but it's been a looooong  time since anyone's posted about delivery problems!

As others have said, I think the problems only occurred when they were handling sales and shipping themselves. I've placed several orders with Topatoco and never had a hint of trouble.

I've only ever bought the books, and those through Topatoco. Not only was the service insanely fast (compared to what I'm used to, anyway), but the order confirmation e-mails were hilarious to read.

Order stuff. Order lots of it.

Topatoco cares about their customers and their artists (like Jeph) and they excel at keeping everyone happy.

I've also had positive experiences with both QC merch and other things on Topatco. Just a warning though that most (if not all) of the women's shirts are printed on American Apparel tees, which run small, so you should probably go a size up from what you usually wear. And they get kind of funky in terms of fit when you dry them. But that's the only warning I can think of!

I love Topatoco's wording on everything. My boyfriend ordered the book for me (Not a present, I don't have a debit card) and now he wants to order something else because of the funny dialogue.

I strongly recommend against using a debit card online.

And what else will you pay with? A jar of change? Monopoly money? Two geese and a heifer? Happiness and rainbows?

Credit card.  In the UK at least (disclaimer: I don't know about elsewhere) there are statutory protections that credit card companies have to offer against fraud or faulty goods, which do not apply to debit cards.  I believe that using PayPal you don't get the same protection either (even if the money for the transaction is taken from a credit card).

Same in the US. Some banks may reimburse for debit card fraud as a matter of courtesy, but you can't go to court to enforce courtesy. In the meantime, all your checks will have bounced and if your savings account is linked for overdraft protection, it's gone too.

If it's a dual use card, use it as a credit card.

Credit card.

No different to paying with Monopoly money, as far as I'm concerned.

Only if you don't intend to pay it off. Otherwise, it's just a convenience.
