Catching Up
« on: 14 Sep 2011, 04:57 »

I stopped reading in 2008 due to some serious problems in my life. I've decided about an hour ago to try to catch up in one shot. Currently on number 1182. Wish me luck, please.

Might wanna grab some tissues around 1790 or so. You won't see it coming.

Every time I click NEXT, I have a super-tiny anxiety attack.

I just realized how annoying it is going to be if I put everything in here, so if any of you are actually interested in my vague thoughts and references, I'm going to stop posting everything here and bring it to https://twitter.com/DickNomms

Edit: Twitter account died after I got a little too friendly with Neil Gaiman.

And some "I hate myself and want to die" music. I recommend Celine Dion, maybe some Meatloaf.

Do read Marigold's fanfic first, if you want to smile after you hit the 1790's.

You know it's probably not quite as traumatic if you read threw the archives.

Remember, that story, when it was first shown, came out over a two to three week period, and the final resolution wasn't for a couple of months. If you read the whole thing in a couple of hours, it's probably not as bad.

I'd give you the cheat sheet, but you'd miss out on a lot of LOL's.

Not that you'd be able to figure out where the cheat sheet is located, of course....

Hold up, he hasn't even gotten to Marigold's introduction arc yet. Suffice to say that the Chibi Kawaii AnthroPC will be factoring into things in short order, and Faye is going to get over Sven.

Rocky road.

Also, for me it didn't really hit home until six comics later, which made me laugh and cry at the same time.

1. I do not know how I would handle missing out on QC for that long.  I missed the whole "Momo's New Chassis" story-arc (since #1999) and was shocked at how much I missed.

2. I would fear getting into an accident and falling into a coma.  Only to wake a year or more later and find that Marten has moved back to California, Hannelore not only has a boyfriend but is also General Manager of Coffee of Doom II (also in California...), Steve is now engaged to Padma, Dora & Tai & Marigold are all in separate bi-sexual relationships, Pintsize has a human-like chassis and a (biological) human boyfriend, and Pizza Girl's secret & full identity has been revealed.

3. Oh, and that Shelby smothered Jeph to death at some point and QC was discontinued after #3050 despite fans' efforts to keep Questionable Content alive.

At the speed he's going, it'll probably hit like a ton o' bricks.  I know other webcomics I've done catch-up trawls with have done that to me.

And that was in slow-motion, we had time to watch it unfold.  I imagine reading it for the first time in an archive binge will be even more wrenching!

So, a metric ton of bricks.   :-D
