WCDT 2076-2080 (Dec. 12-16, 2011)
« on: 11 Dec 2011, 06:10 »

Another week, another WCDT (Weekly Comics Discussion Thread, for those of you with single-digit post counts).

Not too many more comics left this year, including the likely guest comics or filler.

I still say we should come up with a "forum-created guest comic" for Jeph to use at some point...

I was just thinking. The craziest thing Jeph could do to us would be to redo Comic 623, but replace Dora with Padma.

Hmm. What has the most potential for drama and angst for Marten? Elliot finding out or the inevitable Keyser Brose remarks from the rest of the gang if they find out how it went down for Elliot?

Technically, you're correct. But this is the butts DISEASE. Because the disease spreads upon contact with a carrier, the avian form is a risk to the psychological well-being of the public. No reports of avian-to-human infection have been confirmed as of today, but an advisory has been issued, and parental guidance is recommended. After all, no cure for the butts disease is known.  Early symptoms include an unexplainable fascination with callipygian art. If you suspect that you have been exposed to the butt disease, you are advised to eat nothing butt rump roast and to turn the other cheek.

I'm voting for what I'd like to see, not what I expect - my expectations are the Jeph will do what ever he bloody well wants and we'll lap it up.

Then come here and go, "But what about?"

Ah how did I know Yelling Bird would eventually succumb to the disease. Oh well, as for the vote I want to see more of the Marten/Padma interaction play out, it has some very good potential to give the forum stuff to debate over.

This kind of thing , this butt worship, has been brewing for a long, long time. http://questionablecontent.net./view.php?comic=157

The real problems will begin when Randy starts talking repeatedly about butts.  Vulgarity from Yelling Bird is a given, but from the Eternal One?  Be afraid, my friends, be afraid.

It depends on the edition. The cover design can vary, but the "official" title of the book is found on the title page.

Hmm. Wonder how well Padma is performing at work today? She has access to an endless supply of coffee, but even so.

I can't shake the feeling that this is just a dream that Marten is having.  I suspect that we'll also see Padma's dream this week.

See, I was right, they were at Marten's. And I am still curious why they didn't go to Padma's when they were right by the door.

Does it mean that I am a hopeless nerd if I point out that Charles Darwin's historic work was actually titled "On The Origin Of Species"?

(I'll see your nerdery and raise you.)

Actually, the title was On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life. As you can see in Wikipedia, the title page of the first edition set various parts of this in different sizes, with THE ORIGIN OF SPECIES getting by far the largest.
