Okay, I'm now going to list a bunch of photos that, while not side on, would have worked perfectly for this purpose were the rabbits at a different angle.

Gareth.

You are a somewhat frightening-looking person.

Not in a "big scary brute" way, but in a totally demented, this man will kill me in my sleep to use my intestines as jump rope kind of way.

its actually quite impressive.

We have a thread for pictures; but there's no reason not to post them elsewhere if they are relevant.  Well, so long as it doesn't get out of hand...

And although it's nice for threads to remain on topic, we even tolerate them drifting away and back again - again, within reason - unlike another forum of which I'm a member, where a posting which a mod deems off-topic may well get you an immediate temporary ban.

We're quite adaptable, you see.

I had the best dream ever!! It was a date with something amazing (no one in this forum, sorry, you're still amazing though) at this big event and it was so much fun and there were some make-outs and it actually came to a sort of natural end so I didn't wake up all annoyed about it being interrupted. The weird aspect is I've been dreaming a lot more lately and it was one of those sort of simple dreams that felt really real which is extra brilliant considering what happened in it.

Ok, details,  now that I've remembered it some more. There was a guy both me and the three antagonists were trying to get to. He was flying. I'm not sure how, or in what, but he was rapidly heading away from us, in the air. For whatever reason it was imperative that I talk to him (convince him off something?) before these people (which my brain keeps calling conmen, even though one of them was a woman and one was androgynous) got to him. They put a saddle on the Motherfucking Pterodactyl (yes, the one from The Oatmeal) and flew off. I was left with a tugboat. It did not fly. They got to him first, and began holding a conversation with him from pterodactylback. At this point in time the man we were trying to reach had transitioned to a steampunk airship. he seemed to agree with what the conmen were saying. I was screaming obscenities at them from the harbor below, then i was woken up by dad. I vaguely remember saying to my dad in my half awake haze "you Zeus-dammed flabbergastian"

Sex is your bits, Gender is a mixture of the social, neurological and psychological side of things.

A person for whom both match up is Cis.

A person for whom it does not match up would be Trans*.

The explanation of the actual difference gets a lot more complicated than that if you really look into it, but that's the gist.

Dictonaries are dumb, by the way. It takes five percent of the public to be wrong about something for long enough and voilá - new definition. Also some words are in specific contexts used interchangeably, often with confusing results. For instance some forms will say "Gender: M/F?" and some forms will say "Sex: M/F?", but both can be asking about your legal gender rather than genitals or whatever. Bad habits die hard.

I say this coming from a country wherein the language doesn't include a split term for gender and it's said "Kön (Sex)" and "Socialt kön (Social Gender)". I have mixed feelings about that. On one hand it can complicate things to not have separate root concepts to speak about, but on the other hand you get into far less bullshit when dealing with trans* conditions as a matter of biology.

Not getting into gender issues here (if you hadn't gathered I agree with pretty much everyone here), but the definition.

Sex as meaning gender is actually an older (some might even say "more correct") definition of the word than sexy-times. It's not like it's some new-age definition or something. I'm not pulling from the urban dictionary here or anything.

I can't believe I'm getting shit for this >_<

Primo, we aren't referring to it as "Having sex", but rather the term meaning "The sexes" as distinct from Gender in English.

For that matter the number six is spelled sex in my language. Having sex is too. So one could say "They're definitions of the word in the dictionary!", but they're referring to different concepts.

Also words aren't static. Keeping Gender distinct as a concept has its uses and drawbacks, but they are different concepts. Therefore the continued use of Sex in some occasions where what they mean is Gender is pretty much just a lingering bad habit. When it stops lingering is when the dictionaries end up with an [Archaic] notation at the beginning. :-D

I've never once heard ”the genders“ and ”the sexes“ used as separate concepts, even when talking to people in the LGBT crowd.

You just did:

Sex is your bits, Gender is a mixture of the social, neurological and psychological side of things.

Which actually illustrates why I, as a Swede, can think the divide is odd at times. Using sex like that other one could be obsolete and offensive when referring to people like me. It doesn't matter what my "bits" are or were, they wouldn't define my gender as synonymous with that. But it's also trying to get away from the baggage of being defined by those bits with Gender, which is more accurate, even if still contrasted with sex. I can't really see the use outside of describing dysphoria and it certainly should either encompass all concepts or distinctly be separate ones (hence, gender).

I wouldn't want someone saying "She's male" and claiming they were talking about my 'sex' in the latter part as a matter of not being cisnormative enough for their liking yet. English is weird. :psyduck:

also merrick, it would be nice to remember that you are 18 and despite how you may feel, you do not in fact know everything

so when someone tells you you're wrong (or, in fact, multiple people tell you so, giving reasons why), you might want to listen and go, "oh, i didn't know that!" instead of flipping your shit. it gets you ahead in life way faster.

It's also worth noting that this forum has a particularly developed awareness of issues around sex and gender, and uses such words with more nuance or precision than the general populace.  We hope that a little of this spills out into the world around us through education of newer members who were previously less informed on these matters.

Band of survivors using this apartment as a 'base'. Not really sure what brought on the need to be a "survivor".

Traveled to my old family house on an excursion (didn't recognize it as my old house until after the dream, but given the layout it's pretty clear). The distance was dream-warped so it wasn't miles away. End up assaulted by some guys much bigger than me, don't find any guns to defend the place with - Obviously - and the ones in my group who do have some get killed. At their mercy and pressed up against the wall, but turns out they speak a language I know (in-dream) and are amused with my desperate piping up. They let me go no worse for the wear, except scared. And alone with my friends dead.

While back at my place I try to rest, but there's a pecking on the window. I look up and there's some weird exotic multicoloured reptilian-bird staring at me. I just open the window and let it in. It liked bread, so I hand-fed it some slices, then it just went on its way again. A while later the window was still open and suddenly a similar-looking creature but with like a friggin' 3 meter neck and head that barely fit is hovering above me and chirping. I left the room to get whatever bread I had left, but the fucker trashed my place before I came back and wouldn't leave until I gave it to him even though I was mad. Good riddance! Window closed!

Not much of a coherent story-arc, but I practically never dream anyway, so that's cool.

Someone I assume to be Valdis chased me around a mansion with a knife last night, I'm guessing Valdis because it looked kinda like her avatar and she was in a bunny girl costume and was screaming something about "That's no way to treat a rabbit!"

My subconcious decided to break open a keg of 100 proof Weird last night that much is for sure.
