Before I realized what thread this was, I was seriously concerned about how incredibly awkward it would be to go to Burning Man with a parent.

Before I realized what thread this was, I was seriously concerned about how incredibly awkward it would be to go to Burning Man with a parent.

In the twilight of my 20's, my biggest regret is that I didn't take my dad up on his offer to go to Projektfest with me when I was 16.  Because I thought I'd be too embarrassed, and he wouldn't let me go alone (fair, it was out of state) but HE WOULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH MORE EMBARRASSED.  The stories I might be able to tell!

The fuck. Three weird dreams in one night. First I dreamt I was coming home (to my old place) in the rain, and my neighbor was standing on the stairs with an enormous black dog, waiting for the rain to stop. I picked the free newspaper (which I used to deliver a year ago) from our letterbox. I went up the first flight of stairs and stumbled over two packages of the newspaper. I wanted to call the publishing company to tell them how shitty their employee is working.I was pondering which number to call (the employee one or the public one), when a technician from our ISP arrived, and put a lock over a hole in the wall. :psyduck:

Apparently I woke up and went back to sleep at this point, as then the next dream I remember is going to a tequila bar with friends (I have no idea who they were). I was talking to a red haired girl as we were leaving. Next I know is I'm trying to get to a ferry over a small canal in time. As the ferry docks every car leaves, except for one, where some dude with a french license plate is selling used car tyres from his trunk. He leaves as well, and a group of people appears, sweeping the floor of the ferry, with broomsticks which have straw hats at the end. Then somehow these people have built a shed (on the ferry), and a party is starting in there. I join, and suddenly am in a date with a very nice girl, with her mustachio'd father as chaperon. At first I was very confused by that, I remember looking at her to make sure she really is my age, but after a while I kinda ignored that he was there, and for a while he wasn't. Then some strange folk dance started which I don't remember, and at one point she suddenly kissed me, and smiled at me and laughed, as if a lot tension had been released. I looked at her father, who nodded approvingly, and I looked at her again. I started getting really giddy about this having been my first kiss and such.

Then I woke up again, and went back to sleep. This last dream was probably the weirdest. I don't remember how it started, but I was on a car trip somewhere to pick up something, under the lead of one guy, with about 5 other people. At some point it turned out that our leader didn't want any of us to return alive. For some unknown reason that guy took us to a department store, where I bought three hammers, which were basically maces. We went back to our truck, I had tucked the hammers behind my belt, and had pizza. I don't know what happened next, but I was strapped to a chair, together with somebody else, back to back. For some unknown reason we were wearing inline skates and carrying a bigass cannon. While strapped to the chair. We pushed ourselves up, and rolled down a hill. At that point the dream became some video game like scene, in which we were rolling down a steep slope. I wanted to go for speed, but we kept missing the last jump.

:psyduck: Damn that was a strange night.

So here's one I had a few nights ago.  Memory of it is somewhat incomplete.

I'm at home, and for whatever reason, my brother is trying to show me how to put together this coat rack he invented.  It was basically a steel plate with random steel projections, like rebar, angle irons, etc welded to it, with a wooden board that had holes cut to correspond with the welded projections that would be bolted to the front.  Recollection of the dream gets a little fuzzy at this point, but next I know, me, my sister and her best friend are outside of our house.  It's apparently fall, since none of the trees have their leaves and are all over the ground, and now my brother is dressed in just a pair of shorts and hopping around and hooting like a monkey, and appearing out of nowhere to hit us with a stick in the back of the knees before hopping off again.

There was also a massive water tower a short distance away from the house.  When I say 'massive', I really mean 'colossal'; judging by where the pylons were planted, it was a few miles away from us, but easily reached well over a mile into the sky.  It was rather futuristic looking, with antennas and other stuff attached to it that would look more at home on a radio tower rather than a water tower.  And it had the word "BALLATZ" printed on the side of the tank.  I've no idea what 'ballatz' is, but it's not a word I've heard of, so I've no idea what to make of it.  We decide to go check it out, but we take exactly five steps, and we're all of a sudden next to one of the pylons and staring straight up at it, the water tank almost obscured by the atmosphere because it's so high up.

And that's pretty much all I remember.

I dreamed I was a robot. I didn't really look like one though, I was humanoid and nobody knew I was one. But I was faulty, since I was frequently forgetting everything that happened during the day and returned to my basic schedule.

I was out on the balcony and was looking around. Our neighbor from the apartment next door saw me and was interested, because she was suppressed by her parents and wasn't allowed to see boys. But she snuck over by jumping balconies and introduced herself.

We talked quite a long time, she snuggled up to me because I was such a big man and she fell for me. My robot self was sort of oblivious to her. But I appreciated the company. I then needed to go grocery shopping and told her we could go together.

Streets in the future are a weird deal, with eight lanes for both directions, and every car going whichever way it wants to, since it's all automated. I had to steer myself as I didn't have a big enough car, and it was really scary to say the least. My car was basically just a seat, she was in the luggage department. We were driving at break neck speeds between all the futuristic lorries and busses, and at some point, one of the blades from a bus (all vehicles were sliding on what looked like blades) pierced by side deeply. But we managed to return safely.

At home she managed to convince her parents that she needed to take care of me because of my wound, which wasn't true as I was a robot and I didn't even know I was cut, but she didn't know that, and neither did her parents, so I guess she wasn't lying. She was ecstatic  because it meant that she could sleep in my bed with me, and she promptly stripped naked and cuddled with me. She kept putting objects into my wound since I told her it didn't hurt, which it didn't but it still felt weird. Then she stripped me down and started playing with my accessories, but I remembered that I had to take my medication so I didn't forget everything again, and I excused myself and went to the other room.

On the way there I forgot and went into routine mode again. I took my pills, walked into a different room and fell asleep. She thought I felt uncomfortable and didn't want her so she took her clothes and went home. On her way back my opposite door neighbor saw her and got jealous of me since he thought we had did it.

The next day I was confused and anxious, which I always am after forgetting. I was afraid of what I had done the day before, and slowly opened my apartment door. My male neighbor burst in. I was so caught off guard that I just said hi.

His jealousy had turned ugly overnight and he was going to make me feel it. He asked "How was last night" and similar things about her and got angry when I didn't answer. I hadn't met her before and had no idea what he was talking about. Instead I got scared and wanted him out of my apartment. He started to take things and say degrading things about them ("what an ugly vase", "I have a better laptop than that"), threw stuff on the floor ("Ooops, SORRY"), and generally misbehaved. I think at this point I was no longer a robot in my dream but only a man who had a bully in his apartment. Dream Logic.

In vain, I started to hit him. I was very afraid. But he seemed unfazed and continued. He took a notebook full of drawings my sister had made for me and implied that he was going to use the sharpie in his hand to "enhance" some of the drawings. At this point he received a punch in the nose, after which I took him in a chokehold. In this moment, my girl neighbor and her mother entered the apartment to check up on me. Seeing us struggling, they proceeded to berate me on rules of conduct and that I was very rude. But to me they were strangers who were trespassing, so I called the police (who knew of my condition) and they sorted it out.

What felt like a week passed and I was walking home with my sister and a childhood friend, Nina. We were going to go to my place to pick something up and then proceed to a party my sister was having at her huge apartment. But when I arrived at home, my apartment was stripped clean, no furniture was to be seen, everything was gone. An eviction notice was hanging on the door stating that my stuff was in a storage compartment and I was to find a new place ASAP. I was shocked but after reading the notice I realized my landlord was my opposite door neighbor. I asked my sister if I could stay at her place and she said "sure".

We went to the party and enjoyed ourselves. There were so many people, and after a few moments I gave up trying to remember their names. I sat down on a sofa and looked around. I noticed a girl standing in the kitchen, back turned toward me, who had blonde hair that she dyed to look like a rainbow, was wearing a silly hat, a pink hoodie, tattered jeans and turquoise shoes with glitter on them. At this point I was having an lucid dream and tried to brace myself, because the person I was seeing was my ex-girlfriend.

I turned to my sister and just told her "and dream-you probably has an excellent reason why you invited her", and she just replied "yes I do". I turned back to my ex and saw her moving towards me. I didn't bother standing up and just said "hi". She stood behind the sofa and was leaning over my head. We chatted for a bit. At some point I asked: "so why did you leave me?"

She sighed and just smiled. She leaned forward, took my hand and replied "was that really me or did you just forget? You left me. You thought I wouldn't fit in with your friends, that I would clash with your family. You preached love to everyone while wallowing in self doubt. You lost yourself trying to prove yourself that we'd fit together. And you had the guts to blame me when I left you for someone better." She still smiled. "I miss you when you weren't trying to make 'us' work. I miss getting to know you in London. But I don't regret leaving you. And you should too."

I woke up

I dreamt that one of my wisdom teeth was coming out of its socket at night so that when I closed my jaw in the morning I could feel that I was pushing it back into place.

Then I realised that (although the dream was exaggerated) this is exactly what is happening, and I need to go to the dentist about it.  The fact that I have complained to two dentists about this tooth and neither of them has noticed that it is loose concerns me, though.

Was in Quebec City.  Met up with a woman, wandered inside a set of old houses that were joined on the inside.  Wound up in a small auditorium type room, and watched a play.

The weird part?  There was a lot of talking, and I understood almost none of it.  Which is weird, because I do speak French.

So I had a really weird dream last night. I was sitting at a table in a casino (like a poker table) with my company's global GM (My boss's boss) John, and he was in the middle of a detailed lesson about sales and marketing, using a dice game. I remember it made a lot of sense at the time, but ended with something about a cruise that didn't make much sense at all. Then there was a scene change, and I was with a woman I've seen a few times in my dreams before, very unhappy about something, frustrated. I got the sense she was someone's spouse.

Last night I went to bed feeling ill.  I had a dream in which I woke up refreshed and feeling better.  Then I woke up; I wasn't.

Last night I had an odd dream that I had met up with an old friend from college and with ackblom (at least, the guy from his avatar, don't know if that's actually him). I have no idea why we were meeting, but as we were saying goodbye, they warned me to watch out because a hailstorm is coming. I then woke up to the sound of a hailstorm outside.

Disjointed, but:

got a phone call to meet up with cowerker in big park outside town
left, then realized did not now where in park we were meeting.  had 3 ideas of places
stopped in a parking lot partway there.
parking lot was on top of a house
parking lot featured an 80 degree slope (i.e. nearly vertical).  It was a huge pain getting into the car, but for some reason walking on the slope was fine.
saw a triathlon ongoing along the river
met a baby
mistook it for my friends dead mother
she (dead mother) noticed my mistake and we talked for a while
the house we were in had a second open living area behind the first (lol at me an houses in dreams)

Pretty sure I'm missing some pretty big parts of the dream

Had a dream where everyone hated me. Like some people tolerated being around me but everyone else just refused to even notice me. I'm still kind of upset about it.

Okay so this time I had a dream that I went to a convention of some sort. And both my boyfriend and Masterpiece were there. And we had communal sleeping spaces and I wanted to sleep in a cot between them but people kept getting in the way. And there was a separate room for people from Germany.

Then it switched to hanging out with a former friend who I used to sex. I miss her a ton. But we go to a large store of some sort - Walmart maybe - and she wants to buy $10,000 worth of stuff and we have to get that money out of an ATM. And then we pay and the cashier is just flabbergasted that she would buy so much. And then we put it in/on her car (a mattress was included) which is a super old muscle car with a cape of some sort.

And then it switches for the last time to my most recent ex. We were walking around a campus of some sort and he starts to explain that he knows we can't date because we just aren't compatible, which is true. But he wants me to live with him because he misses me and he thinks we should still be close just without the dating label. And that some people would call us flaky but that was okay because he just wanted to be around me.

The dream I remember most vividly is one I had when I was around six. I was in my babysitter's house, but everything was blue, and there was this weird electrical buzzing. There was no one in it. I walked around the strange blue house for a bit, and then suddenly I disappeared in a flash of electricity and that's when I woke up.

I had 2 weird dreams last night. One was I had this little fox thing that could fly using it's tail. I protected him from 300 pound pit bull that was built like a tank. He was pretty cool and I named him Ash. Second dream might have something to do with that.

I woke up, went back to sleep and was in a weird pokemon world. It started with us trying load a jet ski onto a pickup truck boat while going at high speeds. Driving jet skis next to each other at high speed with waves is pretty scary. We failed to load it and there was team rocket looking for us. So we had to ditch the jet skis and get inside the time traveling whale. Yes, there was a time traveling whale god. Then the dream followed team rocket using psychics to try to figure out where we went and they had a time machine. The whale was full of stuff. I remember 20 indiana jones hats and 2 shovels. I was going to collect up the hats and sell them for funds. We needed the shovels for something or other. That's about where the dream loses any continuity. At one point, we rode the whale to the earliest time it could go and watched a lot of other whales landing in the ocean and they looked like comets.

Now if those games have that general plot, than it will be evidence that Nintendo engages in dream-stealing.

Ever had one of those body-morphing dreams? Occasionally I have a beard in my dreams, one that is otherwise unattainable for me. Last night I looked in the mirror and had massive fuck-off huge pecs. They were totally incongrous with the rest of my scrawny frame.

The closest I've had is the dream where I was looking in the mirror and my teeth were falling out one by one. I remember reading that dream has a meaning, but I can't remember what.

I feel like I probably should be posting here more regularly since most of the dreams I remember are really fucked up nightmares, but y'know.. don't want to be a bummer.

Ever had one of those body-morphing dreams?

..Yes. With very unpleasant dream-nightmare mixtures to them sometimes where I'm not sure which to count them as. But generally and in most dreams, yes.

Play more videogames. :-D They're beneficial to your ability to distinguish fantasy from reality, and that might help in getting less discomfort from nightmares. Just a theory of mine.

Stress, I believe. If your teeth fall out in your dreams, you are stressed. If your teeth fall out in your life, you need to see a dentist.
I feel like this is one of those dream interpretation factoids that everybody just accepts (don't do that) but now that I think about it, there might be a correlation between daily life stress and nightmares relating to your body, which include the teeth-falling-out dream that so many people report having. But it's false to say that dreaming of teeth falling out equals stress.

I heard that dreaming about teeth falling out means you're worried someone's lying to you. But that doesn't really make it seem any more plausible.

I dreamt about being the Crown Queen of Cauliflower last night. I was on my way to Disney Land and was kidnapped by the Vegetable King, who demanded me to be his bride. I agreed, but when it was time to "kiss the bride" I stabbed him through the ribcage with a knife I apparently owned. And thus, I became the ruling power in Vegetable Land.

I heard that Teeth Falling Out dreams can mean that you are overly concerned with how others view you. Kind of makes sense. *shrug*

I used to have those dreams ALL THE TIME. Then I came to find out that I was grinding my teeth in my sleep. I ground through 2 or 3 mouth guards! Now that I've been using a repositioning splint, the dreams have stopped! Hallelujah!

BrusselSprouts: That is amazing.

Oh, I didn't say I believe it IS because you're stressed. I said that I believe it will have been that which 94ssd has read ;) I don't believe in kooky dream interpretations.

Last night I interrupted an occult ritual headed by Bruce Willis and beat him to death with a rocking chair he'd made himself.

In reality I was on a trip to Antwerp with some friends from university, and while we were sleeping in the hostel I dreamt that I accidentally caused a massive panic attack in one of my female friends, and she hated me for it, and I felt absolutely horrible. The worst thing was that it's totally within the realm of possibility. I was glad to wake up after that.

So re: my episode of sleep paralysis I described above. It hasn't happened again, but I'm still terrified of it coming back. I used to not bother locking my bedroom door. I live alone and my front door is a heavy security door. I also live on the third floor so I'm not terribly worried about actual intruders... but I still lock my bedroom door at night.

If someone finds a way into the card-access only building and then past the heavy, deadbolted door into my apartment, let's face it, they're probably getting into my bedroom too.

Yeah basically. In my case that's why Mr. 1911 sleeps with me. It's like a teddy bear, but for paranoid people.

Maybe my brain remembered the teeth falling out dream, because my lower right canine and incisor fell out. I was also in China, and my dream informed me that it would be futile to try to find medical assistance because everyone in China only uses traditional Chinese medicine. My brain's words, not mine!

I had a dream last night that I visited Paris; it did not live up to the hype.

not too far from reality then, I found Paris not all it's cracked up to be either. It feels very snooty, like it just KNOWS it's one of the best/most popular cities in Europe.

I had a stress dream last night that I was at university and I was failing all my classes because I couldn't find the classrooms becaus eno-one would tell me where they were. People are jerks sometimes.

Just yesterday a friend who study abroad in France was saying that if you go, go anywhere except Paris. People are nicer, the air is cleaner, the sights are more beautiful, etc..

I'll go to Paris next spring hopefully, so I can report back. I've heard different things from friends, mostly people who hate to travel hate it, and people who love travelling loves it. Also people who love art loves it obviously, so I'll probably be biased...

I fit into the "loves travel" category but I think I'm a bit biased. Belgian people are very insistent that Brussels is better than Paris hahahaha

I think it's a city that you HAVE to see when you're traveling around Europe because it's PARIS OBVIOUSLY. And Paris does have a unique feel unlike any other city in Europe. But it is pretty commercialized and touristy, depending on where in the city you are, and the locals are pretty clearly sick of it. That being said, it is a BEAUTIFUL city, and the museums and tourist places are wonderful. The Eiffel Tower is just so grande and important feeling. It's an essential part of any Europe trip, but my opinion is that it shouldn't be the ONLY part, since most of Europe feels completely different. Even if you just hop on a train to another region in France (I recommend Normandy, especially for history geeks everywhere)
