To be fair, I did enjoy the pseudo-Connery voice employed by Bane...it gave him a gentlemanly-sounding nature. Sort of.

Alright, it was fucking weird to the point of hilariousness.

I just saw Warm Bodies and I really liked it. There's not much to it, but it's a fun movie. It's one of the few things I enjoy Rob Corddry in

Life of Pi - that was a very amusing movie.  Enjoyed it immensely.

Rise of the Guardians - My kids loved it, and I didn't mind watching while they watched.

Started to watch Safety not guaranteed, and got interrupted.  Looked really good what I got to see.

Kurosawa-marathon and some short, crass commentary:

Drunken Angel - Excellent, but a bit unsatisfactory. Mifune should have received an ever bigger part, perhaps.
Seven Samurai - Absolute masterpiece, I've seen it before but I'm still at loss for words. One thought: The battle scenes are more realistic and maybe even more dramatic than anything I've seen coming out in the last twenty years.
Rashômon - Very beautifully made and Mifune is insanely good, but the obvious misogyny bothered me a bit too much.

Then I watched Tokyo Story. Very, very powerful, in a way I can't really explain. I didn't cry but dang if my heart didn't ache at the end.

I need to watch something really stupid and light now to get some perspective I think.

I really liked DKR in the cinema.

Upon a re-watch at home...a resounding "meh". The realisation that at the end of the day, after all was said and done in The Dark Knight and how criminals can get up in your mind and don't always want money and...

This was just about a bomb going to go off in Gotham. Pretty much just that.

But Anne Hathaway on a motorcycle...aw yeah.

To change the genre (I am afraid of watching horror movies):

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

Cried manly tears (I'm not afraid to cry). Also, best acting by Jim Carrey I've ever seen him do.

One of my all time favourite movies! I love almost everything ever writen by Charlie Kauffman, and Gondry is a great director as well. And yes, Jim Carrey is awesome in it. Kate too, as usual <3

Jack Reacher...  Knowing what I know of the character from the books, and then watching Tom Cruise trying to portray said character...  I think I'll try the books.  Probably more enjoyable.

Blacula, and Scream Blacula, Scream.

They were on back to back on one of my local channels.  Goofy and dated sure, but damn that was fun to watch.  Gotta love any movie wherein the vampires don't even back down from bullets, but let the protagonist loose with a shovel, and they better watch out!

My wife and I were laughing so much, and just had a great time in general watching.

So my wife and I missed a whole lot of movies we likely would have enjoyed through the late 90s and 2000s because all we watched were kids movies. Catching up on some of them as we run into them. Watched a British movie called "snatch" over the weekend. It was fun.

That's the only entertaining thing to come from that film. Also RED. RED IS MAGIC.

Rewatched Fight Club from an analytical point of view for course. Was writing loads of notes about the colour choices and dynamic shadows and was listening to the commentary while doing so. Bit underwhelmed when Fincher said, "That's just underexposure." Classic over analysing student.

I'm claiming it's my "inspiration" for the film I'm making for my class.  :-D Well, more David Fincher but I know the film so well enough that most of my writing is about it.

A statement originating from the author of the book, no less. He prefers the movie.

Was gay the wrong choice of words? The thing's crammed with male nudity and phallic imagery. He opens the movie with a dick gun in his mouth. I suppose I was shooting for 'homoerotic' but my way seemed funnier.

I love both the film and the book, although I had seen the film a lot before I read the book so I love the film more.

Due to the twist I don't see it as homoerotic. I think masturbation is more appropriate.

Fight Club is one of those films that I love but somehow have only seen once. Eh?

I watched The Promotion on LoveFilm because I was stupid and purchased 6 months for £10. This may sound like a good deal but LoveFilm is awful and they keep shoving 90s children's films in my face because there is sweet fuck all else on there.

Also, The Promotion is awful. The most inconsequential film I've watched in a long time. Also clocks in under 1hr 15 mins, which hardly counts.

Showdown in Little Tokyo.

This is the most amazing and homoerotic action film in existence. At on point Lee compliments Lundgren on his massive dick. Lundgren responds with a raised eyebrow and a knowing smile. He thanks Brandon, then kills a dude with a Sai.

This is the best review of this movie I've ever seen.

I know, I have LoveFilm, it's awful, I wish I had American Netflix.

Something with Kevin James in it? Pointless American Pie spin-offs? Personally I'm in a Jack Black mood. Go for School of Rock.

Saw the new Evil Dead. Someone on Twitter, can't remember who, summed it up pretty well: "Well, that sure was Evil Dead."

Was entertaining. Go as far as to say a remake/reboot done right.

Is it cold in here?

I just watched a couple of episodes of Hemlock Grove and I think it's hitting a really good sweet spot for me.

It's not great mind you, it's very B-Movie quality, but in all of the best ways. It's well aware of what it is, but without being overly self aware. It's got some beautiful camera work and the cast is doing a great job with the roles. It also has the best werewolf transformation that's been filmed since at least An American Werewolf in London.

Ok, the show has introduced werewolves, vampires, a man with super human strength, an immaculate conception and a child who is the product of mad science.

I think I love this.
