Hah.... Now you left me even more baffled since I'm a big fan of The Angelic Process and drone in general. No offence. I just can't see any similarities at all besides both bands being metal and from the USA.

EDIT: Hopefully I didn't sound like a know-it-all asshole because that was definitely not the intention. The comment sounded friendlier in my head. I can drop a few drone names if you like!

It was mostly the female vocals! I meant the first half or so, before Al started singing.

I'm listening to Dave Mustaine talk in his post-drugged-up drawl on an interview, on a customer's tv. Geez, he's got a face for radio.

Sky Blue Sky by Wilco is my perfect summer album. I can see the leaves falling when I listen to it at home, then I walk outside and everywhere is orange and brown.

I've been listening to the latest Meshuggah and Gojira for a while and I gotta disagree with Jeph by quite a mile.

It's good and all.... But can't possibly hold a candle to their earlier albums. I don't care if he burns my house.

I'm making an album of covers for the gf. Me with guitar and voice. It's mainly composed of songs she likes, but also songs I hope she will like... and maybe award me for it. Like, with baked goods or something.

So far I have:

Elliott Smith: Clementine
Thelonious monster: Happy #12 and #35
Bob Dylan: I threw it all away
The Shins: Mine's not a high horse
Elliott Smith: the biggest lie
Big Star: Thirteen
Billy Bragg: A new england
John Frusciante: Going inside
Beatles: When I'm 64 (she loves it more than any other song I've played to her, which is sort of a let down but whatever)
Heatmiser: Half Right

Probably in that order. Any cool suggestions?

My friend and I made a youtube playlist of Stendeck. An electronic noise/ambient act I introduced him to and that we ended up autoplay-listening to all days long for almost a full week.

I am still listening to it almost every day. Right now, I'm at work and it makes the extra hours go easier.  :-)

Many years ago, my grandmother died. At the time, I was away near Wales working as a youth leader.

I didn't know how to handle it. I sat down in my room and pushed play on the CD player, and Joy Division's Closer album played.

I used that album for my grief. A year or two later I was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome. A million behaviours were explained, and suddenly I didn't want to be that way any more. I stopped being so introverted, became confident. I stopped listening to Joy Division. Any time I played all my MP3s on random and a Joy Division song came up, I would skip it, because I just wasn't sad enough to need music like that in my life as a comfort.

I was happy, for years. And even during my depression this past year, I was happy to an extent.

Then she left.

I was listening to my MP3s on random. Joy Division came on, the song 'Decades.'

I listened to it, and it felt right.

RX Bandits - "Only For The Night"

Easily one of my favorite songs. It's off the album ...And The Battle Begun! which, from what I understand, is entirely about how badly drugs can fuck you up. This song is about heroin.

This is one of many, many albums of theirs, and this is the only one I can think of that is specifically devoted to the dark side of prescription drugs. But yeah, you have a point.

Listen to that song if you haven't, btw, it makes for a great song about an FWB relationship that neither party feels all that great about. I've been there, so that's why I can't stop singing this song (I've never done heroin, sooo yeah not really relevant to me).

I'm listening to Beat Les Troubador, by this band Troubador.

It's pretty neat, and they sent me a t-shirt, a poster, cards, and a pin, as well as the CD.

Anybody heard of these guys?

:)

Thanks Matt, Pat, and Paul.
