I might get shit on for this, but the new Vampire Weekend is pretty solid. The downtempo, minimalist feel is so god damn relaxing, and it doesn't feel as overproduced as the first two. The new National and Daft Punk albums are pretty cool too. Good summer for music!

Said it before, will say it again - the band name 'Vampire Weekend' is a waste, firstly because they are a shitty afro-pop band or some shit with a dark band name and secondly because 'Weekend Vampires' is a much better name. Someone (I wanna say Pat?) has tried to say that the former is a good thing because it throws you off about the nature of the band, but I guess I'm only okay with that if it's a band I like.

Speaking of Vampires..

I've really been feeling this song these past few days, though unrelated to vampires in my listenings.

This will all be over soon
And we'll learn to live again~

I tried Vampire weekend, wasn't pleased.  I suppose I can give it another shot.  Recently I've played the hell out of Nero, and AWOLNation, (as well as my usual other stuff, AFI, The Loved Ones, Parlotones, Naked&Famous, A&A, and a few others) I Kinda like Bring Me The Horizon and Mindless Self Indulgence lately also.

Woo new music day! Just got (and loving):

Dormarion by Telekinesis (third album, I have all three)
Nightmusic by Grimes
Oblivion by Grimes
Secrets "made famous by One Republic", BUT **IMPORTANT DETAIL** THE INSTRUMENTAL VERSION. It's fun to solo guitar over.

i've reacquainted myself with how great Rev Norb's "Touch Me I'm Weird" solo album is after finding a used copy on ebay to replace my long lost one from a few years back. and i saw a band that i think said they were from the philly area called Underwater Country Club that i really enjoyed. i bought both of the albums they were selling and have included them in most of my work playlists in the weeks since. The Replacements' "Sorry Ma Forgot To Take Out The Trash" has been getting a lot of spins lately as well.

Random Access Memories, "Contact".

Oh, I love the song, but it could have been so much more. If only the 3-4 minute build-up led to something.. I'm a sucker for epic build-ups, but it's such tease when they don't really lead into anything..

Yes, potcheen is essentially Irish moonshine.  And I am currently watching my cat (who is trying to sleep on a shelf above my computer) as I listen to Alex Beaton, currently singing "Sound The Pibroch".

I saw him at the Scottish Gathering & Games in Atlanta several years ago, and he commented on my Celtic FC jersey. He was glad to see it. :D

Today, it's "Ocean Breathes Salty" by Modest Mouse. WELL THAT WAS THAT AND THIS IS THIS, YOU TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT AND I TELL YOU WHAT YOU GET, YOU GET AWAY FROM ME

Pretty much all versions of L's Theme from Death Note while studying. Oddly enough, it's actually not really helping at all. Weird. I thought it would.

the 2 different cover versions I did of "I Didn't Understand" by Elliott Smith. One was back in 2010 when I was severely depressed and still very much on the novice side of the whole 'recording' thing. The other was this week, and is considerably better.

I'm addicted to Wardruna, a Norse folk/ambient group from Norway. The Runaljod-Gap Var Ginnunga and Runaljod-Yggdrasil albums are unforgettable; I'd recommend them highly. Also, I've been enjoying a lot of Arditi (Italian industrial) and Pseudogod (black/death metal).

There's also this Paraguayan group (La secreta) which i'm a huge fan of:

Anyone here listen to HURT? They're like Nickelback, but good! Kinda post-grunge, but with a touch of metal and prog. Also a ton of great ballads!
